anyone had success with a particular knob-n-slider box with the pulse? I'd really like one that has those virus-style "relative value" knobs so that you don't jump to a new, wacky value when switching programs. or the "infinite turn knobs" on some other waldorf stuff. thanks.--knowa

Doepfer has a new deal that has the rotary (potentiometer is the word?) dial. I have the first Pocket Control and I like it lots. Not a bad addition for $150.

I just browsed the waldorf ftp site and look what i found:

A Cubase mixermap to control the Pulse through an Access Virus.
If you want to control the Pulse through the Access Virus.

shame i dont have my Pulse with me to test that out!

a potentiometer is just any variable resistor.. a resistor channels current thru a semi-conductive material to attenuate it, so a potentiometer has a strip of this material that allows you to change the distance the current has to go through from one contact to the other

i don't know about optical pots and stuff, but that's why your standard analog knob is called a pot.

just to mention somethnig cool, it could be like this.. i think it's one of the classic old wah pedals actually has an optic sensor inside.. it's not mega technology or anythnig..

but the way it works is there's a light sensor right, and when you open or close the pedal these little rollers pull a sheet of black cloth between the sensor and a little diode/light inside.. weird huh.. evidently this is a classic and common pedal mechanism and is more sensitive/accurate than a potentiometer.

i'm purposefully wasting time again..
