Would love to hear any feedback on this track... It's called "Kind of Automated".... it seems the bottom end got cut out quite a bit with this low bandwidth version.... as well as kicking up one of the hats... Guess I need to do a web mix of it, to fix that, next time... Chacka ren Poog.

The length of the opening part is slightly awkward, maybe to create an intentional sense of unease? The tune sounds good. At that part around 3:16 or so where the kick starts to come back in, I think it would be interesting to hear the vocal samples there too. Maybe more parts of the tune could use one additional subtle layer or texture. But these really energetic parts in the 2nd half of the tune are good, they really grab ya.

Thanks!
I originally had the vocal samples in at that part, but I got tired of hearing it, so took them out... Maybe its just from working on it and hearing it over and over again, I get afraid of it getting old... I'll gather some more opinions and see... The beginning section I like... the building of tension before the drums, but I appreciate the critique!

whenever i hear tracks like this i imagine nobody (the person) skating about a lot and doing wild flips and stuff. dynamic, physical music. hey, i listened, can't think of anyway to be constructively critical, but hey, is not so bad, i think you others who are out there, you listen, and then i think you are going to be liking it, hey. i'm just not a skittery bass drop type.

Yeah, building tension (which I called unease) is fine. I just wasn't positive that it was your aim.

yeah, cool as fk. maybe try that pitching the snare up as the roll goes *more*, you do it once (?) but it could be more in your face, that thing that they do, know what i mean? in bits. and use different snares as well maybe (ie more than one). that stop around 4.55 is a bit weak, imho. all good though.

listening again, maybe you could stick in reverbed snatches of a break over the intro, just for flavour. and the delay on the first brake maybe doesn't need to be in time, try a cross-rhythm to fk peoples heads.

My player kept jumping a little so I heard it in bits, although these bits were all really impressive. Loved the beat you've got going, especially that kick. The timing of it is spot on and gets a right groove going quickly.

The only thing I would maybe add is when the first drums come in I would give more of a crescendo before it. I think there is a slowed down vocal before it, try reversing that vocal and blending the two together (maybe withsome crazy panning effect as well)

Then again, you're stuff is a lot better than mine, so what do I know!!

Good work mate.

niiiccce track my man...thought the intro was really interesting...didnt know what it was building up to, but if it had been anything less i might have wept...liked the way the drums just came in full force...the bass is fine imo...i wasnt too taken with the part around the 3.15-3.45 mark it was just too spartan for my liking and just needed something more...maybe the vocal? keep 'em comin'

No no no! Xoxos! There was absolutely NO sarcasm in any of that! I meant it, word for word, as it read! I understand you dont necessarily like this type of music, I dont necessarily like *your* type, but I consider it some of the most creative and well-produced stuff I've heard on this site.... Man, I *LOVE* that buttercup track! Can we be friends again? :-)

There actually *is* alot of panning going on, but that doesnt come across in mono very well ;-).

This is the first track I've posted to DT, after coming here for over a year, so these good comments mean alot to me! I learned quite literally just about EVERYTHING I know from this site. So thanks thanks thanks thanks. (thanks)

man..I had typed all kinds of (favorable) things but damn browser froze. argh

Ill just say I liked it. I think the rattling snare pattern would sound better if there were a main snare and secondary...maybe there is? it actually sounds more like a hi-hat or that type of pattern

the break is awkward somehow..just DROPS and comes back from a totally different place. a little too much of a surprise but then when it comes back in sounds pretty damn good

sounds like a good mix, too.

thank you thank you thank you for not doing trance  and thank you for not making claims about your music being so far ahead and this and that. face value. good stuff

oh..and I had also written that the drums remind me mucho of "The Shadow" by Playford. SICK track (I only have the "Process" mix which is just astounding in its power)

Playford... Never heard it... I'll check it out though...
Your review, influx, I was actually dreading... But then again, I was looking forward to it as well. You're definitely one of the more honest, non ass kissing guys around (which is just basically a nice way for me to call you an ass ;-). )

I'll get right on that "Kind of Automated" Ibiza mix for you, too.

just so you know, its ROB playford. might make it easier to find

the Process mix that I have is just fucking MASSIVE sounding. one of my all time favorites on the power tip.

I could say more about your track, but Im truly impressed (why the FUCK would you care what I say, anyway) but its nice that you waited til you thought you had something worth hearing before presenting it.

some of you people I would love to work with. want a slower remix of this?

I'd love to hear a remix of it by you... breaks style, I presume? I'd have to find a good format to give it to you in though, considering I did this entirely in fruity.

heh you *do* know how to make me laugh.. and i am thinking that that is more valuable even than my feeling of being treated spitefully when someone implies my tracks are lifeless and glib just because i didn't overly praise their tinnitus-inducing clattery go-boom music that sounds like the saucepan man rolling down a flight of stairs.

Part of me wants to grab xoxos and shake him... shake him and shake him and yell "NO you dense rabbit headed fool! I was COMPLIMENTING YOU. Not once did I say anything negative about your music, however Euro-Pop meets 80's American dork-synth-doodles it may be! COM-PLI-MENTING YOU!" and then kick him in the ankles and run away.

But the other part of me is marvelously tired from staying up all night watching the millions of falling stars and wants desperately nothing more than to say "bah" and go back to bed.

wow, that break is a big suprise. too much imo, but I like the idea of suprise there a lot. maybe like a big kick/crash hit, 2,3,4, break starts. just thinking. before I go on--good work, this doesen't sound cannes at all, the way the vast majority of stuff does to me.

the break is really very stiff, but I suspect that this comes from fruityloops. a guy i know who uses it just gave up on programming individual hits because you can't nudge them backward or forward little bit. I bet the break would sound really good if you could 'groove quantize' it a little bit. maybe there is a way to do that in fruity.

gotta go. cool, espoo, keep it up.

Actually, fruity does that quite easily... Theres some of that going on in there, but for the most part I wanted a mechanical, machine-controlled sounding track, so I didnt want it to necessarily "groove" too much... I kept the quantization mainly on the hats...
