My first track using NI's Reaktor and Waldorf's Attack. It's techno. Mix sounds pretty good in encoding this time. Unfortunately there is 20 seconds of silence before it begins. Thought I had it selected flush. One of these days I'll get everything right. I think this is a good track. Comments are very welcome. Thanks!

very cool

Yeah, this is good. I like those ghoulish voices. I think you could thin out the number of things going on in a few sections, to spotlight certain elements. Aha, that's starting to happen towards the end, and the bass really comes out. It's cool overall.

no offense buddy but, that is some really weakass techno you have here. by the sound of it, doesn't seem like you even listen to techno. you might want to listen to some cureent techno producers and go back into the studio. sorry please try again. some artists to check out: ben simms, surgeon, regis, glenn wilson from u.k. fannon floweres, jay denham, jeff mills and anything else out of detroit.

Influx, how do you edit mp3s after their made?

K, you're right. The sounds are a little buggier sounding in lo-fi but none the less, maybe I have a career I can't escape a career in film music after all. Attack of the 50 ft ants, those are the best kinds of films anyway

Marianimal, it is a bit cluttered in parts. I was taking things out frantically last night so I could get it posted. Parts are good I think.

Selignav, no offense taken. I'm still very much in progress with my tracks. I put them up, and listen to others' tracks, to be a part and to learn what's good, what's missing. I haven't listened to as much as a lot of people. From what I understand there is all kinds of techno. Ah anyway, the track was 3 days of work with a new program so I can't be too hard on myself. I've heard a bit of Jeff Mills but I think that's all I've heard from the list. I'll try to get my hands on some.

Influx, it takes 10 minutes to say the Ferrous Oxide? It takes only about 20 seconds. That's why I gave you 20 seconds of silence at the beginning of the track

And thanks for listening everyone. Was rushing to get out to work this am. Wanted to say thanks.

Silignav, maybe I should change the genre to UK garage...really piss some people off   I've never heard UK garage come to think of it. That'll be my next track then!

Damn. Influx I realized you were talking to K about the title. Well 20 seconds is enough for his title too.

nice, like the stabs very much, very saundersonish. I would agree with marianimal and carve some out, those 20 seconds seem to be there so we can catch a breath before it starts

VANGELIS

youre trippin kid. Dont start with that "this aint that" shit. Thats just a bit dogmatic, no?

sitar.yeah..K...

as for the track...seemed to drag to me. I liked the beginning with the dark vocals, but then the drums just all sound mushy...seemed like a good bangin 4onthefloor kick would bring it together a lot more solidlike

I had it thinned out more and then at the end thought I need to put more in to make it sound like something. Then I was pulling things out again. I realized I just couldn't hear it anymore. I guess as I progress I need to learn to get away from a track for a while and come back with fresh ears. How many times have I heard that?

A banging kick. I started with a soft kick Influx. As the track morphed into 50 ft attack ants I didn't even think to change the kick out. Good idea. I have to come up with something harder. Good idea. I also thought to start the track with the full drum thing going on like it does at the end and then pull things out for breaks and stuff. Would be better. Forgot to try it out. I thought for once the mix sounded somewhat good in lo-fi. Oh well. Onwards and upwards. Thanks all.

Interesting. Not the sort of thing I'd normally take much notice of tho. Just one thought occurs to me Sitar, do you think it might have been a better idea to have become a bit more accquianted with the proggie before doing any tracks with it?

I mean with such a large and complicated piece of software, it's a bit like trying to run before u can walk. No offence intended btw.

That's a point Cloud Nine. But if I waited to get familiar enough with anything, I wouldn't be putting any tracks up at all yet. Would have to go to some school or find someone who could teach me how to mix properly first even if I was familiar enough with my gear and the genres. And then I'd be selling my tracks up on the market already if that was the case, isn't it? Believe me. There are a couple of friends that have told me months ago they have producer friends that I could at least send tracks to. They've given up on telling me I think. I know my stuff isn't anywhere near ready.

At three minutes I think Killer Bees rather than ants, dunno maybe some difference in perception. Dig the track but missing this real hard 808 kick compressed to F&U&C&K (not registered), you know? Cool that synth coming in at 5:30, like that.

yeah..cloud nine...where are you comin from?

are you one of those people that thinks someone should have everything MASTERED before they present it?

sitar is clearly capable of putting forth well-planned and well-executed tracks, so theres no need for that shit

do you have all your gear mastered in and out? I certainly dont, not 100%

Thanks Xoxos for your strong vote of confidence.

Hey Maarten, this track obviously has me on a path to produce insect cds. There are worse things in life.   I know this track has potential and I'm lookin forward to ironing it out.

And how many of you can brag after you posted a track that Influx came to your rescue, twice! Thanks all.

the first one is someone I know..altho I dont know if he knows who I am? and it was an out of place comment that sounded like it came from a VERY narrow perspective, that of an insular clique-y raver type and I didnt think that person was like that, so....

Okay Influx, you're right - I'm nowhere near mastering all of my gear. I haven't even begun to get used to Reason, and Orion still holds mysteries. But I personally wouldn't do something in Reason and post it on the site, until I knew at least enough about it - to be able to part master it.

I wasn't criticising Sitar, I was merely suggesting that a couple of weeks pratice time might be a good idea. But seeming as how you contradict everything - I'll keep me trap shut in future.

well there's no need for that, just try and put it down so it's leading instead of crossing.. get it? leading instead of crossing...

it's like the mister men. there's mr. tickle, and mr. sneezy and all the others, including mr. posts-wack-ass-slop-he-hardly-worked-on, and they all live together in the mister men land.

I do not contradict everything

man..y'all are some oversensitive pussies this month, eh?

waaaaaaahhhhh,.

dude...why NOT put a track out with reason? If you have your head around it enough to make the fucking noises you want to make, and do it fairly cohesively then HAVE AT IT!

this aint no god damn EXAM! You dont have to do PROOFS. No one is going to require you to draw a diagram, or write a synopsis

just fucking make sound. make good ones. however you can. DONT COPY OR BITE and its all good

right?

sitar is pretty damn productive...almost as much as xoxos...

and I must reiterate that I dont contradict everything

Lyrics.

Cloud Nine, I really don't mind anything you have to say. I don't throw tracks up expecting everyone to think they're the greatest thing since whatever. Of course I enjoy hearing someone say they liked part of something I did or even the whole track. But I learn from all kinds of comments. I just wanted to be clear to everyone that I haven't put any "finished" tracks up yet. I haven't gotten that far nor have I the time yet. Doing my best though.

OK buddy. Turn your browser off, slowly get off line, and let's see your spellcheck.

"Clouid Nine"...and it's his own name no less Influx.

You have the right to remain silent...

cool sounds sitar! like the chopped up vocals and all the weird noises in there. i see you´re working together with this 'nexodus' character now, so he has taught you some new tricks, eh? ;)

cheers, M.

Yes Nexodus. We'll be at eachothers' throats soon. Anything good in the track came from me. Nexodus messed up the mix and everything else that's terrible in it. If you're thinking sitar sounds schizophrenic....we resent that.   Thanks for listening.
