Anybody got any ideas on making this a reality? I've got an A3000 with an internal 5.5gig hardrive, and I'm running into corrupt files from time to time. I'm thinking it's a bit fragmented, and needs some TLC. Can A3Kdisky fix this?

you think samplers' hard drives don't get a little fragmented after lodas of editing and cutting nd saving, well you know what I mean. I think I'll probably just have to bump the volumes arounnd in the partitions and reformat each one, one at a time. Thnks anyhow.

oh no..I TOTALLY think it would happen! I didnt mean to sound like youre tripping...

I just never thought about it. When I read your first post I said "hmmm..never thought of that" but then I had no idea what to do about it, so

you know...maybe the drive is just old and slow? Isnt scsi on those things a bit weak anyway?

Pongoid - with a drive that size, you could maybe clear up some bits by reformating a partition at a time and "shuffling" your samples to other partitions. I dunna think A3Kdisky can do anything but format and partition... I actually only use it to make backup CD images of me volumes and such... Still a pain in the ass any way you look at it. I doubt you could use the defrag in Windows or on a MAC (by hooking up your SCSI to your 'puti) as I'm pretty sure Yammy uses their own proprietary file system based on a DOS idea....

I've had similar probs with my A3k corrupting files, and since I dunna really use all that many samples, I just shuffled me bits to an empty partition and reformated the "problem" partition. That seemed to take care of the file corruption problem...

Actually, I haven't had the problem since I upgraded to the Version2 chip, but there again, I really dunna use my A3k all that much. It's generally waaaaay overkill for my needs live (and the fucker dunna fit into most racks neatly), and in the studio I tend to use the PC to do me "sampler" type work....

Peace
