The image of the fastest animal in the world running at breakneck speed with precision agility across the plain.

Or that's what I envisioned anyway :P

Hope you all enjoy and comments are welcome.

Thanks

Nice track Sitar, A1. Did you do it in Reaktor?

Btw, what's happened to the insects?

Thanks Cloud Nine. The insects couldn't keep up. They don't run that fast you know.

I'm taking it down and reloading it. Forgot an essential for the sound quality.

It's not easy being me.

It's back. Sounds about 100 times better. Almost sounds cd quality. How could I have forgotten.

Cloud Nine, I used Reaktor for a few of the percussion sounds, the voicy things on one of the formant modules, and the arp that runs throughout the first part with a sequencer module, and the thick percussion mixed with the drums at the tail end where a real breakbeat groove starts. That will be the next track.

The very beginning is the Supernova as well as the melodic pad in the last part the morphs into those spacy bleeps.

The bass in the first part is made in Junglist.

I think that covers everything. Oh. The majority of drums are the ER-1.

Like I said, it's not easy being me. Sounds good though.

It's okay Sitar - I know exactly what you mean. I'm the same, I put things up and then as quick as they're up I delete them and start again, just because I've realised something could be better.

Perhaps you and I ought to do a track together sometime, if I get Sonar or you get Orion Pro, it could be fun!

Would be fun. But think of how many times the track would be going up and getting pulled between the 2 of us. There'd be a crowd watching the track image flash off and on at the top of the Music Home page thinking it was html making it flash off and on. It'd look nice around Christmas time I guess.

It'd get us both some attention though wouldn't it?

It would be fun - perhaps we should seriously consider it. We're both on a learning curve, and we could draw something from each other. Plus I'm interested in doing some work with other people, but I don't want to do it with some who's been at it for ages, because I'd be swamped by their experience. Email me if you want to discuss it further.

I decided to try using the PSP Vintage Warmer on the finished track instead of Isotope for expediency. Didn't know if it would work. When I finished it I forgot to do even that. I went back and put the Vintage Warmer on it using one of its compressor/limiter settings and it really did a nice job. I had already compressed the drum kit and bass together before mixdown. I was just fooling with Isotope on an uncompressed copy of the track though and I got it all pumping a bit more but I'm gonna leave it for now. Except I shortened it. Cut out 24 bars that were dead weight in the arp with drums section. Should've done that in the first place. I get too myopic with these tracks. So it's reloaded again...that's 3.

Sitar has a hard time of it.

And I don't like the snare.

VERY er-1 drums, but nicely put together. Kinda pretty but not super characteristic apeggiator line. Shit speakers, so I can't hear all of the highs, but the dynamics sound decent. Good percs. Nice syncopation. Pretty melody line. You've been listening to a LOT of Orbital, and other British artists, I'd guess. I like the concepts, but am kinda burnt on the ER-1 sounds. It's taste, but I'm over the sound of that box, and think you'd do better with good old Roland box samples, tweeked a bit, or more Reaktor sounds, and sequenced in a more broken up fashion, and individual to the bar, more reflective of your other musical knowledge. At the cost of sounding like an asshole, I'd say it's well researched and written, and an excellent quality of sound, but I think it lacks the individuality that I'm sure you're capable of expressing, even if afraid of exposing. Let loose a bit!

I'm liking this very much Sitar! Nice line indeed. Have the feeling the the snare could be more snappy but that's just personal... really nice atmosphere growing after 3:00. Great track!

Thanks for listening gents. What I'm more apt to do is use the er-1 to lay out sequences to start off with. Put together a different kit for playing the sequence back and then chopping up the sequence to taste.

How close were those patterns and sounds to the presets on the ER-1 just out of curiosity, because they are SOOOO very much the sond of that box?

Glad you enjoyed David. Thanks.

Pongoid, I'd say pretty close. I mixed some parts up. I laid down the sequence and then went into it a bit to break it/change it around. Would've done more with it except for time. I knew I wasn't going to go back to it after last weekend. Actually I did more but cut a lot of it out. By the time the weekend came to an end for me I had forgotten about creating another kit to play the sequence. I probably would've kept the hats and changed out the snare and kick if I had the time to play with it more. And I would've morphed the kick more to a 4 on the floor thing to make it danceable...that is the point of dance music isn't it. I always seem to forget that somewhere along the way.

I find I like some of your other tracks, like Ferrous Oxide, or 910 much more; they sound much more like you to me. Still, Chettah is good work, just not the best I've heard from you yet.

Thanks Ape. I didn't even know you've listened. Truth be known, I haven't even written anything I like what I want to do yet. Should be opening up soon though. Pieces of the picture keep falling into place. Takes time that's all.
