started this in response to brett's string thread, but thought it deserved it's own header..

brett: one of my major influences is jobim.. ++nice 3cd set on ryko 'the man from ipanema' (one songs, one instrumentals, one w versions of famous songs.. very enjoyable) to the best of my knowledge, jobim was elect to bring the bossa nova sound to the united states, and at least from my stance, it appears that b.n. is seminal to many antecedent public works.

anyway.. as such, i couldn't tell you diddly about your resolving chords or whatever, but i'd say listening to jobim will familiarise you with what a lot of stuff attempts to do.. or something.. for small string arrangements. course, i'm still largely a stranger to exotica..

so who are THE seminal artists? you know? i'm not talking about the GREAT artists, just the ones that have been most emulated. ie. i'm not familiar with a lot of e.p. music, and i'd like to hear what other people heard before they approached the electric piano. top 3 seminal e.p. players?

standard disclaimer: i'm a vehement advocate of developing an individual style. i feel i've made some ground here.. i'm very interested in style derivatives artistically and as a potential commercial hack (radio spots.. not tracks..)

alright, it's a weighted question, since i'm sure it's only valid in certain circumstances? but if any similar examples come to mind, put 'em up!
