Are folks all abut synthesis these days? Not that that's a bad thing, just odd to see so little movement here.

Well, speakin' only fer mesef, I never did do samples all that much. Mainly just for vocal bits and some odds and ends FX. Not that I haven't used samples a lot, I've even made a few tracks with nothing but samples... Just my preferred way of working to use synthesis. Course that's how I got into electronic music. Wasn't until later that I got into using a sampler...

But yeah, it do seem quiet in here, eh..?

I'm with Mindspawn.. I really haven't scratched the surface of sampling yet.. Not quite as immediate to me as synthesis.

maybe it's because "because unlike certain other sites there is nuff FAQ's and articles which answer most questions... so people dont have to keep on popping up asking inane questions." or at least that's one guy's take on it. ;)

thing is, aside from the actual act of sampling and some things like beat chopping and time stretching, it is synthesis of sorts -- envelopes, filters, mod routings. the lack off immediacy is more in that you have to deal with multiple pages and a data wheel instead of the one-knob-for-one-function interface you get on analog and analog-modeling synths. I'm not telling you nuttin' you don't know though.

one thing also is maybe the computer/software side of things has taken a big old bite out of hardware smapling. I know I could get away without a hardware smapler if I had no aspirations of actually performing some of this crap in front of hominids.

oh, and check this. it's unaltered (except the circle and arrow) from the PDF manual for the Winders version of Akai's MESA software. hehehe.

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!
