i can help you with it. my brother makes most
of his income because BMI tracks his music.

usually to join BMI you must be invited by
them. ascap is free to anyone.

they are there to protect you though. it's not a
scam. it IS necessary if you want to be
protected and recoup everytime your track gets
airplay. not in a club, but say it's played on the
radio or someone uses it for a tv ad. you'll get
paid everytime it plays. and it's like a copyright
in that once you register it with one of those
companies, it proves that you are the author.
