Ok, we get all our gear set up & plugged in. I use my MIDI controller to play the JV880, no problem. I use it to play my microQ, and when the sound of the patch dies away, there's a high-pitched hum left behind, regardless of which patch, and even when the synth's vol is completely off. Eventually it wears off but it's definitely triggered by playing the mQ. Not always audible over the rest of the music, but we don't know how this is going to sound in the club. Why does this happen? How to get rid of it?

A few people on the Waldorf mailing list had a similar problem that disappeared after they replaced the power supply.

Thanks, that sounds like it's worth a try.

Second the power supply check. A friend of mine had one doing the same thing, swapped the power supply, no hiss....

I figured I'd just bring the old power supply to the good local electronics store & buy one with the same specs. I know you're supposedly not supposed to use another power supply besides Waldorf's, but if they match all the specs of the old one, what can really go wrong? Actually, I'm hoping to get one that fits better, cos the original one gets unplugged from the synth too easily. Could be why this is happening in the first place.

I just dont think manufacturers should be putting shit out with that sort of problem, and that you should contact waldorf about getting a new one

using a PS from an electronics store will be FINE. just make SURE you match or exceed the amperage, AND match the polarity. Using less amperage can be a problem, and the wrong polarity can be a BIG one, Ive been told.

havent fried anything and Ive replaced numerous power supplies

note: I once had a bass station rack that did the EXACT same thing...a high oscillating sound after playing notes. died after a while

never tried the PS thing tho.

AFAIK Joerg Huettner wrote in the Waldorf forum that the country specific power supplies are not delivered directly from Waldorf, but added by the distributors.
