Howdy all. Anybody got any clues as to whether there is anybody providing data recovery for proprietary file systems like those found in a sampler's hard drive? Anybody who might have specs, etc.? My hard drive just ate shit on the plane ride back from Europe, and all of my work from the past year is on it. I'm hoping maybe it's just a jumper or something, but need to talk to experts ASAP. Thank you for your assistance.

Emu right? I had something happen to a drive once and called them and they said "youre SOL"

fuck.

but...actually..I believe that these samplers run in something very similiar to DOS..or at least the drives are such?

so..you could probably go to any data recovery service and give it a whirl?

but then..it would need to be on a same format drive...the transfer that is?

fuck dude. good luck!

this won't help now, but in the future it will. I use disk-2-cd found as a free download on cnet.com. it is a bundle of dos utilities to back up or copy from any scsi device to another. So I use it to back my emu hard disk up to a scsi cd burner. My drive is only 540 megs so it fits on the cd's nicly, but as long as you kept the drive content under 800 you could do it from any emu scsi disk. As for the current drive, someone had this issue on the emu thread a while back. Maybe do a search and see what they did. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. No, actually this is a 5gig in an A3k, and I've got a BUNCH on it. After having my wizard give it a sniff, it looks like it might be a bad disk controller. If that's not it, then it's off to the guys with the clean room. Pray to the disk gods for me.
