ok... i´ve heard this many times before, but i just want to point it out for people who still dont get it:

ALWAYS PROGRAM YOUR SYNTH SOUNDS IN CONTEXT!

turn on your sequencer, load the song yer working on, program the part that you want the synth to play, and then tweak away!

ok, i know that many of you know this and implement it all the time. i just wanna bring it up for people who are thick like me and dont do it often enough

cheers, m.

If you can, Milan. But I can't.
I program lots of interesting sounds, then I force these sounds into an arrangement. Most times this method requires a lot of violence and pressure ;-)

i think both ways of working are valid though.
more often than not i'll be making a track and
then searching for through sounds i've made
previously. i'll find something that is close and
tweak it or find something that inspires me to
take the track somewhere else.

yeah, my tracks have started and ended many different ways too.

sometimes it starts with a new or tweaked synth patch, sometimes a vocal snippet, other times the drums push the track.

and sometimes (all the time?) i'll get halfway through, discover a new, cooler motif, decide everything before it was all crap, and start all
over again.

ahh, the trials and tribulations of writing music with no formal training at all.

Great track, I didn't like it after the first listenings but after having it on repeat for a while it has grown on me. I love the strings\pads at 3:30 and those vocals are very nice. The track is kinda hypnotic
