Reminds me of another classic fuckup I heard from my boss (well ex-boss now)... he was engineering this vocal O/D session with this chick who was hot as hell but had no voice whatsoever (and you wonder what made me think of this story
) . Well, there's a feature on SSL consoles that automatically engages the talkback whenever tape is stopped or winding. Dangerous little button. He wasn't aware that it was on and after a particularly bad take he says to everyone in the control room, "man, who did this chick blow to get this gig?"
Well it came through loud and clear in the girl's cans and he had to hide behind the speaker for the rest of the night... couldn't even look at her! How fuckin' embarrasing!! Hehehh... it's funnier when you know how much of an asshole this guy is...
