I was on there the other day and it worked just fine.

They have overhauled the site, perhaps your links out of date ?

I get there through http://www.steinberg.net/en/ps/support/forums/

Cheers

"All these YEARS!!!! I "THOUGHT" I "loved"
Emagic LOGIC. But then Emagic/Apple gave me
the shaft. And in my wanderings I discovered
Cubase SX. My world is TRANSFORMED!!! SX
works like "I" like to work. Logic makes you
work their way. SX is a TRUE Windows prog.
with those sweet "right-click" goodies that
Logic NEVER had since Logic Windows is just
a bastardized MAC program. Thanx Steiny!!!!
NOW I'm HOME!!!!!!!!"

is this guy on drugs? what gives?

Nice one K.

Where did you find that cheesey quote Milan ? On the Cubase forum ?

Can't believe Mr Steinberg takes the time to sit on his own forum whilst getting off his face.

C'mon now... keep your Sonar postings to the SONAR forum if you please!

A little bit of decorum here please.. otherwise things could degenerate into a more entropic anarchy than they are at the moment..

(Or just disappear up its own arse like pretty much every other 'net forum out there..)

darin

there are plenty of people using SX quite effectively. They just dont SCREAM about it like the assholes at cubase.net

EVERYTHING is a "BUG" and they post multiple threads about the same shit, over and over and over and over.

that place has the most assholes I have ever run across. Whiny little bitches that want EVERYTHING and want it NOW

apart from the posts where someone mentions they quite liked Logic's on the fly quantise or something and then they get 40 flames. How people can get so loyal about a bit of s/w is beyond me.,

okay...i know this is gonna sound stupid but i'm using 4.0 and i can't get cubase to help me get 4.1 for mac. i know i should've done this a long time ago but my mac was slow and i was working (i.e work) so much i barely had time to even "get" cubase beyond what i needed it do for me. however...i'm realizing my vst instrument doesn't work with cubase in 4.0. does anyone know where i can get a copy of 4.1 or 5.1?...is this even possible? right now i use absynth stand-alone and copy chops and textures onto cd with beat/tempo-playing and then throw bits into ableton...mash with beat (usually my own) in LIVE~and the occasional sample and then shoot to cubase if i need to add a midi bass line or additonal things...for instance.
it'd just be nice if i could get absynth into cubase. and if not...so what?!?!?
teaches me right for getting a NIsoft-synth when old steinberg can't even acknowledge it's mac customer base. just like logic towards its windows users.
kinda like government...enron to its shareholders...kinda like it ALL sucks.
they're all the same. saddam. bush. stalin.
oh well.....
ain't nothin new.
long live joe strummer.
white riot.

the reason i ask my question here is that cubase-forum sucks......i.e. how do you spell sycophant?

and cubase support seems non-existant for me...a registered user.

businA$$ as usual.

i won't hold my breath.

actually, if you own a legit older version of a prog, the upgrade should be readily available, and I believe possible to do simply on the website

I went from 5/32 to SX without ever actually "talking" to anyone except an email request confirming my order.

did you look around the cubase site for upgrades?

influx...thanks for this link. i will try this one...again though> i've searched and tried but as yet haven't done it by phone (ugh)....cubase support is worse than it ever was and really i just never bothered with them....i can just read miles of posts.
and seriously i'm some lone goner still using 4.0!!!
so why should they support me?...cause i spent 300 bucks seven years ago?
fuck that...i'm a zero. but i'd be happy with 4.1. so i'll keep searching.
again> thanks for the link.

maybe i did it wrong but last week, when i went looking, i couldn't find any upgrade support for mac whatesoever.
and my problem is that i work so much and can't call
steinberg from out out at my jobs.
so i've always made do with 4.0 for these last years.
but running vsti would be cool.
indeed. any clues are appreciated....influx.
thanks.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I was just curious if anyone knew anyway I could get a hold of a manual for Cubast VST/32. I just moved and it appears I lost it during the move. Otherwise I guess I'll have to keep looking. Thanks.

you can always get a copy of cubase power too....probably better than the manual. it explains more i think and covers all the bases....in case steinberg is unresponsive.

well...since i haven't gotten back to steinberg about the upgrade....(thanks influx and knowah for suggestions but i know it will be a waste of my time).....i've happened across a vsti-host program by defective records which claims to host vst-i from outside cubase....and yet syncs to cubase. it's only $35 and the specs and claims sound impressive.
it'll also host 4 vst plug-ins too...at the same time.
perhaps a way to run absynth or dynamo from cubase and get midi and not have to standalone play chops and import audio into ableton live or cubase 4,0.
though i've come to like this playing solo live and importing as it lends itself to a slightly organic (hapahazard?) feel to things...a little more human at times is okay by me.
but yes...being able to midi absynth and reactor sounds would be cool.
geez....only a couple more weeks (3 tops!) til i can get my virus b!
how human is that thing?!?!?!?!?!?

and influx...when ya gonna break out that logic thingy...eh!?!?!?
wow...tear it up man!
that things a rocket ship from what i can see>

bedwyr.....
this link is great BUT the most reasonable udate/upgrade for me would be to go to cubase SL (currently running 4.0)
and it requires a g4. this is something i'm exploring this year.....a processor upgrade....i'm still not sure if i can do this or whether i have to save for a super new mac. the fine print shows an upgrade to 5.1 is available but only at the store and there the path dies on me. knowah has a version of 5.02 he'd sell me for the price of an upgrade to SL.....then again a 266 g3 is probably slow and so the better upgrade one day is probably what i'll do.
i've just been interested in an upgrade to 4.1 and this hasn't been an option via their site.
i'll call them by phone monday and see if this is possible for now.
any thoughts on 5.1...SL> the stability...have the problems been resolved with 5.1? etc?
SL looks to be quite a creature.
thanks.

influx...don't tell me these things!
i'm already soooooo stretching the envelope>
money-wise that is.
been twiddling new absynth sounds and playing along w/ old nearly-finished tracks and will run thru ableton. i'll just have to make do before i get a real rocket. push the path and let me know how it goes.

is that w/monitor?

pretty good deal actually.
depends on how used that hard drive is i guess.
mac drives are supposed to be fairly reliable...then again....u never know if he tried to get into something with buku space and less speed stability etc.

as for the logic thingy comment....i thought i read somewhere you had emagic logic sitting in a box and hadn't busted it open yet.
maybe i read it wrong.
especially now that you're saying you're a pc-guy...why would you run with e-magic anyway
just as they're turning their backs?
