Just a quick bitch, promise. Did anyone see the footage from a couple of days ago, where a bigwig american general was hyping up the troops?

He walked out onto the stage to Queens 'We will rock you". So imagine the scene. All the troops are rocking, cheering and shouting to the Queen track - and then the general appears. The music is softened and everyone goes quiet. He says " Boys, when the president gives the word.....its HAMMER TIME". Cue "whoahohohohohohohohhoh" from the troops. It was funny. Like a Rocky film.

I read that Bush's state of the union on monday night was broadcast at a New Jersey Devils hockey game, suspending the game til it was over. After the speech the game resumed and the fans went into a furor chanting USA! USA!

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."

That was posted somewhere here not long ago but it's worth another. Shakespeare had vast wisdom.

the point is...or my point would be> that they used a queen song.
oh!
anyway....there's a sight from a conservative pro-market orientation called lewrockwell.com...which may be of interest. it delivers some stinging criticisms of the bush junta
quite regularly and not from the usual left/liberal viewpoint. the anaologies to caesar have been made...psychological explorations etc.

especially helpful for those who's responses seem to be on constant automatic rah rah mode.

i mean we're talking about a guy who's probably about 60 (general such and such) rockin dudes who weren't even born when queen released the song.
thusly hammer time.

silly.

If you want to make yourself feel really ill, you should pop over to the open jam forums at Harmony central. You wouldn't believe the vile and mindless Gung-Ho 'kill the ragheads', Anti French posts going on there. Makes me want to kill fat, sweaty rednecks.

it's heavily symbolic that the greatest amount of us/british injured have been either us flying into each other or fraggin our own officers and such...a la the ol viet nam scene.
we are our own worst enemy it seems. sadly perfect but true.

looks like the pants i wore to work yesterday.
anything to step to the beat.
