transfers from PC (eg. soundforge) to a sampler,
but is intimitated by having to set up a
SCSI card in the PC, there's a USB to SCSI
adapter called USBXchange that works great.
It's made by adaptec.
Thought I'd mention it
cos I'm really happy with it.

I'm having resource conflicts with my new computer and my SCSI card... This would solve those conflicts!!!
Any idea what the model number is?

I was searching for a cheap Adaptec 1505 for my sampler, then i realised that my computer doesn't have those old ISA-connectors.
This solution seems to be a good reason for me to not buy one of the more expensive SCSI-cards.
Has anyone tested USBXchange with an Akai S3000XL??
If it works without major problems i'm buying USBXchange tomorrow

There's 2 models USBxchange and USB2xchange, USB2xchange supports SCSI2 but like 99devils
says the bottleneck will be the USB side:
=====================================
# Maximum data speed: up to1.5MB/sec
# Sustained data speed: up to 700KB/sec
=====================================
(from www.adaptec.com)
Also with win98 it supports 7 SCSI devices
but with win2000 only 2, though there's
supposed to be a software update for this soon.
Prices are $69 for USBxchange $79 for USB2xchange.
I got USBxchange, my PC runs win98 and I was able
to get a PC->Zip drive->A3000 SCSI chain going
quite easily, but I guess it depends on what
gear and OS you have. Perhaps I was just lucky...
But it's cool, I can upload samples directly from soundforge without having to go through the audio ins on the sampler... and I don't need to enter
the sample name with knobs...plus I can archive
sample banks on PC with A3kdisky (and burn them
to CD). oh yes
