My Nova says "write protect on" when I try to turn write protect off, in the global menu...

I switch write protect off, with the encoder knob, and press write, and it just says "write protect on. I have also tried various other key presses, and I can't find any answers in the manual either.

any help appreciated (of course it is!)

Ok, it turns out that the firmware had become corrupt somehow. I restored the nova to factory default, and then re-loaded the latest os. (4.1)
