and there all this crap which either sounds like trance or hardhouse or on the other end like jungle/dnb, but in a bad way- ie anoying shit with hooverish basses and some acid samples on top. guilty: rennie pilgrim, aquasky, and some other big names. not to mention its all 4/4 shit with 1/16th hat patterns. wheres the breakbeat??
wtf? i thought breaks were some underground scene, raw & ruff. whats with all this overproduced stuff?
on the other hand, i liked new albums by freq nasty and ils, so its not all bad.

I was in a breaks period like a year ago (+ old skool rave 1990-92 shite), then i got more and more into listening psytrance/goa (thanks to gf). And i'm not missing the breaks stuff so much.... It's like black and white versus color television imo. Since i've discovered the world of psychedelic music once again (for the first time since ~1997) i noticed that some dope stuff has been going on (while i was into garage, breaks and old skool) in this world of music that i've missed. Nowaydas i feel more "home-like" and my vision and creativity is far better than one year ago.
breaks is nice in the car and when i'm drunk, but i shouldn't delve more deeply into it.
More open-air parties, mushroom backdrops and psychedelic music pleez

agreed that a lot of it sounds like in house music or DnB...I wish I could say that at this point I felt like I had something different to offer but Im in a slump...
there are good artists out there...but yeah, the trance thing...blah. hybrid is horribly guilty of that, and then they drop some SHIT on ya!
BUT...I think the same thing can be said for ALL genres! what about DnB? went from a focus on dope drums to straight tech step where the drums never do shit, and stayed there for a long time, with the only change being a much faster tempo
and house? shiiiit. trance? heh
youd be able to say the same thing for almost all genres...growth isnt constant, it comes in spurts, no?
