nice and subtle so far. I like your use of metal and glass percussion sounds. It
really creates a cold and desolate soundscape. I'm waiting for something here,
it's a very long period without percussion, but you fill that void with some nice
harmonies. Now that the drums have come back in though, I feel like I've
misssed something. It needs to have something new with that drop, like a
doubletime beat, or a bassline or something. It's a great track, and even as a
'track in progress' it stands up fine on its own.
Peaceout,
Peter

also, most of the song uploaders doesn't come here to ask for comments / say hello / advertise their work / whatever... I mean, it's fine with me, I just wonder why. I guess it's not because dt forums doesn't have any avatars

i have my theories but that's irrelevant....just like most of my theories (!) .
but i simply think people are growing up and have gotten bored.
this is natural.
anyway rags....i'm not sure that it's the beat that needs to bring life back into the last part of the track......
but rather those nice subtle harmonies which get introduced midway through the song....and then disappear. i think those should be brought back but like really almost in a big way.
i think you could manage to keep the drums simple this way....and also remove a little of that coldness which needs to give way to a big dose of sunshine....
otherwise.....a very good start. i like those sneaky distorted bits.

Hell no.
But thanks for the listen Clay, I'll see if I can do something for those nice harmonies, maybe I can arrange something for them at the end :-) If I'd only know which part you mean... (time when they start maybe?)

Ok fine. But what about those others who are still young? Also, what about the new, fresh ones, or are we too old for them to mix?

Quite a few not so open to different types of music, newer music, some more commercially popular, some not - it doesnt matter, holding on too much somewhere, sometimes - clay could have a real good point, bored thing- but if the young blood keep getting batted staright back out the park, then the old will get older, and dwindle- atleast somewhat.....and the young will group together, still, in other places- more comfartable places.
But- *just* maybe it IS just a summer thing
Anyhow, i dont really feel comfartable commenting on stuff im not so sure about, but it was pretty nice (if that even helps)- keep it up, especially if your 25 or under

don't worry, we're standing by the stairs !

I liked this one. At first the main riff bothered, like it was going too fast or something. Then again, I like how it follows the drums in unison.
I think the main theme was reintroduced too quickly after the breakdown tho. It seems that it's (the riff) siginificant enough that you could departure from it to create a build of tension in the listener... y'nkow something like "oh ya.. here comes that riff again!!! woo!". I don't mean balls-out, just a small touch more pronounced.
shoot I babble
the distortion tweaking at the end was cool too.

But thanks for popping in and listening.
queasy: the main riff at the beginning.. well that was a bit overcomplicated. Also, I'm working on a bit different arrangement, and I'll probably add/remove a few sounds here and there.. well, we'll see. thanks everyone for the comments!

is there a possibility to get a cd ?
Message 16/25 01-Sep-04 @ 05:12 PM - RE: the shine
Anyways - I have been listening but haven't been commenting on anyone's stuff - I'll start here. I love the melody here - the glass bell sound I can never get enough of. I Agree that the drums need to evolve during this track - otherwise - it's fine so far.

love the panning timed thing - feel like it's gonna be drum&bass when it arrives.... um...
i like the way it's not repetitive, there are touches and it feels more organic always best for ambient... great track man, pro quality easily, i'd be happy if i bought an album and it was on it... fine....

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

Absorb Fish: I already made some changes to those drum patterns, although they didn't really work out as I expected. Glad you liked those bell sounds too.
Nutoniom: yeah, working on it
K: thanks for the compliments man, I'm flattered. Thing is, I bought live just to have something to experiment, make remixes etc. Didn't really mastered it yet. Also, I was playing with the idea of doing some live act, but that's all, in 90% of the cases I use reason to sequence/record, so what you hear is edited/arranged MIDI parts, with some live synth tweaking (analog gamepad as controller, worked out pretty fine).

I'd like to hear more and accurate drums in this title, so I can imagine that I've to remix it!
