i worked pretty hard on this one.
programmed my own bamboo-tabla patterns and arps.
it's the second-section melody i find most intriguing.
hope you enjoy.

Nice one. Relaxing, pleasing theme.
When listening at higher volumes there is one frequency ranges (upper mids or so) that hurts a little.
Impressive percussion work.

glad you liked it stefan.
yeah...that one frequency.....hmmm......chisai bit of pain.

but pain...what is it?
i know it's been known to transform....though not always.
the question is...does it here?

thanks for your comments..

Clay-
I am really enjoying this track! At first I wasnt sure what to think about that snare
triplet thing, but it works outs to be very hypnotising. And that panning lead,
thats intense (good intense!), gives a huge sound to the piece, very dreamy,
very pretty.
I would agree about that 'certain frequency' when you open up the analog
goodness filter on the lead, but I know how those things can be.
All in all Clay, I think this is def. an enjoyable piece, pretty stuff.
Good Job!
-Mike

thanks! i appreciate your enthusiasm for the song....mike.

but yes....that nasty little but much-beloved frequency which i can't seem to part with.
i have tamed it somewhat by lowering the volume in those sections but the effect is changed when i diminish "the pain-quotient" there....especially in the section where the frequency is introduced. it's been a struggle.
(mind you...at first, that sound put my t-racks processor off-the-map like no other track i've ever done...i had zero choice but to make adjustments.)
i guess we might call it my higher-self bitch-slap because i know it's a point of elevation rather than degradation. okay so i'm a loon....but>
the fact of the matter is there are times when i'm not sure where the music comes from and yet.... i have to trust it at times like these.
that's not to say it's not my responsibility to try to extract what clarity and precision
i can from it but.....if it's a little pain that enters into our realm.....occasionally......
well.....i'll never pass the yanni or kenny g test....this much FO SHO>
(oh but i try....and so hard! this we ALL know.)

thanks again...

yeah , i checked this one out and instantly thought of those rogue (i thought) frequencies-

the percussion bits sounded cool, although the tabla's at first were a bit uneasy on me, quite static sounding although, again and this happened with another of your tracks a while back, im sure i said to you-

i had it on and started to flick thru a few webpages and almost forgot (well, not forgot as in a bad way) it was on and it had plyed mebbe 2 or 3 times before i realised and thought, shiiiiiiiiiiit this cool wee things still running

Thats definately a compliment im sure ^^^

Canni ask, whats in the name? (23 etc)

thanks blu....for the compliments.

the numerical reference is random....merely the suggestion that there are always variations.
to me...it's a good thing when a song can create a space where somewhere can "be" for awhile.
2 to 3 plays at 10-minutes apiece....can be therapeutic...according to dr. Q.
the bandit frequencies...though off-putting at first seem to play their part....like little jolts....
otherwise things become staid....a little flat....but i could be wrong here.
anyway...i'm glad you enjoyed "being there".

i also want to thank everyone else who's taken the time to peep my music these last 20 months....but rarely or never comment.
the collective songs have received nearly 3000 listens.
that's a lot...i think.
hopefully that means i'm not totally wasting your time each time you hit the play button.
and thanks to dt / 7161 for making it so.

Cheers Clay!

Naah, finally I got back my cans.. only to find out that my newly re-mastered tracks sound like overcompressed 2D shite. But I digress. :-)
Funny thing about that "off-beatish" rythm, for the first listen it bothered me like hell, but now I'm tired as hell and it seem to be just perfect. I could listen to this all day, its such a nice trip to this alien jungle of yours. (Light green and purple trees, bright yellow mosquitoes, blue sunshine...)

Again and again and again. Well, there's something... pain in the heart is one thing, pain in the ear is another ya know...

cheers rags.
i was afraid the track might sound shite with headphones since i almost never mix with them.
but yes....the pain issue...heart vs. ears. you hit it on the head for me.

i always enjoy your colorful descriptions when describing a song..
thanks for "being there" man!
