Original Message 1/3 24-Jul-05 @ 03:11 AM - Can the Nova transmit all controllers ?
I am rediscovering my Nova after I realised that Cubase SX3 has an updated device manager...
I've nearly finished making a device map for it but one important piece of functionality is eluding me...
Is there a way to make the Nova 4.1 transmit all the controller data for a specific (or current) program / performance AS MIDI DATA, not sysex ??
The reason I ask is that I would like the device controller panel in Cubase to reflect the parameters of the currently loaded patch rather than it's default knob and slider values...
Ideally, I would like the nova to transmit all the current controller parameter values via it's midi out port when a new performance or program is navigated to / selected...
Is that possible?
Or more to the point, has someone already made a map for the nova and am I wasting my time??!?! lol!
Thanks,
Neek/os

There is no way to make the Nova transmit the current control positions for a selected patch. You would have to transmit the patch as a single dump and interpret the sysex data to map out the patch within SX3 device controller panel.
Take a look at the Yahoo Supernova group, a couple of people are trying to create SX3 controller panels for the Supernova which would be near identical to the Nova.
Best regards,
Nick.

Thanks for the reply...
OK, I pretty much figured that was the case... I'm not so obsessive that I am willing to interpret the Sysex !
I will definately check the yahoo group, thanks for the tip...
I have nearly finished now, which is nice..., Just got to finish the direct controls for Osc 2 + 3 and I am done... Looks like it's about 300-400 seperate controls and barely fits on a 1280 x 1024 screen!
Peace,
Neekos
