Hey folks-- so my PC fucked itself in and I have to use the internet on the G5 for a while it seems-
what do you folks suggest for any sort of cleaning tools to ensure that i dont get sneaky shit on the
mac etc?

Thanks guys-

Andrew

i think a mac is harder to attack but to be safe i keep my g5 offline unless i'm uploading files.....or downloading upgrades.
i try to keep most all of my internet activities limited to my g3. you can get one for less than 100 dollars on e-bay.
i've buried 2 pcs....they never seem to last.
yet this g3 just keeps performing for how long now?

I'm actually surprised how much I like this computer as an internet computer too :P

Do you know though if they make programs like adaware etc for mac? Just like some utilities to
keep it clean
Thanks clay

also in safari is there a way to turn on an "info" bar like there is in internet explorer? Where you can
put your pointer over a link and it says the full thing at the bottom/ etc... i dont know how else to
describe it but its the only thing that bothers me about safari

just Carbon Clone your boot drive regularly (the mac equivalent of Ghost) and quit fucking worrying about it. Seriously, why are Mac guys such pussies when it comes to surfing the net with their precious boxes? Remember when you 'rode bareback' on your PC and didn't care? And your PC was the only one likely to actually get anything.

I surf the net all the time at work on our OSX G5's, while cutting 24-tracks at a time @ 24/96 with a full mix running and not even a hiccup. No viruses, no popups, no weird system problems (other than buggy PT plugs, but I digress....)

you might also make sure you got that free safari accelerator....it fixes that slow-ass-page-loading feature apple threw in there for who-knows-what-reason.
but i always like it when dave says pussy.

you could install firefox for macosx and use the 'adblock' extension.. brilliant, removes all the ads from the pages... firefox handles popus anyways

don't worry about viruses/spyware for macos x, cos there really aren't any...

adblock rocks

as does the concept of a framework with different softwares competeing to be the same features - a-la 'extensions'. really makes the platform imortal
