1. in a situation with some outboard midi gear which you wish to route into the mixer & combine with sounds playing from s/w synths inside the PC and also record the external gear to audio tracks, then mix the audio tracks and onboard s/w synths etc all together down to a master
well you'd need to route the soundcard OUT L/R from the pc IN to 2 channels or a stereo channel of the mixer - The channels on the mixer which are carrying the soundcard audio must NOT be routed to the outputs on the mixer which feed the soundcard INPUTS L/R - So route those two channels/stereo-channel to the MASTER L/R OUT
the channels on the mixer which carry to outboard gear - plug all the required outputs from your external gear into mixer channels - mono individual mixer channels should be used for mono-out hardware instruments - use 2 mixer-channels panned L&R as a stereo pair or use a fixed stereo mixer-channel for stereo-out hardware instruments...
Ok, now those channels should be routed to the SUB OUT L/R on the mixer
feed the SUB-OUT L/R sockets from the mixer to the soundcard INPUT L/R
now go to your s/w mixer... bring up two audio channels or a stereo channel & set it to receive from the soundcard audio input L/R - switch monitoring ON so the audio coming IN to the s/w mixer channels pass THRU the pc s/w mixer and back out of the pc soundcard L/R OUT
so, you send a synth IN to a stereo channel on the mixer... this goes OUT of the mixer L/R SUB OUTS and from there IN to the soundcard L/R IN
from there the signal passes THRU the s/w sequencer mixer and routes OUT of the soundcard L/R along with any onboard VSTi's and recorded audio tracks which are also playing inside the sequencer
Now all the sounds, both the external mixer channels passing thru and the onboard audio all are being sent OUT of the pc soundcard L/R and back to the behringer mixer via one stereo channel or 2 channels panned L/R..
but remember, that soundcard return is NOT routed to the SUB OUTS on the behringer.... that way it doesnt get fed back to the soundcard inputs via the SUB out L/R feeding the soundcard and doesnt create a loop which means terrible loop feedback.
as mentioned, you route the soundcard channels on the behringer to the MASTER L/R out - this master out is therefore in effect your monitoring fader pair nd you can either send the master L/R OUT sockets to your amp/speakers, or the Control-Room OUT L/R
is that how you intend to use it... we should do a video for this cos it really would be best with actual visible examples, it's not easy to describe.

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!
