This is basic question but it's defeating me!

I've just bought a Zoom 1608 multitracker and am very pleased with it so far. A key feature is it's capability to provide up to 10 'v-takes' (ie alternative takes) per track. Trouble is, I'm blowed if I can discover from the Manual how one actually creates a v-take! I'm only succeeding in recording over what I've already done! Any other owner able to explain this basic issue to me??

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!
