Hey guys and gals dont know if youve been approached yet but sureley one day you will providing you have an adequate amount of talent in producing-. Lots of great dance producers out there these days and of course were all hungry to get our music heard!!!, and with the vast growth of indie music via the net, this is a song sung more and more these days--dont be swooned by companies or clients calling telling you-- we "need electronic style tracks for indie movie , major commercial or possible major release, no pay,but your name will appear in credits-but they need to hear your track first--- yeah right-most of this is bullshit, most of the time if you mention pay of contract there will be no call back-

ive been producing music for 15 years and i hear this day in and day out more and more------guess what, there SHOULD BE PAY ALWAY!, however most of them say theres no money involved (if theres no money why are they striving so hard to find this origional music when most people just use music libraries?)-----the reason is THEY CANT OWN THE RIGHTS THEMSELVES----thus they LIE--and want to own YOURS!--your name willmost likely never appear-Theirs will however- and your track will most likely be used overseas anyway.or sold to a music library company-..I've heard these lines many times - more and more majors companies use thier young interns leads and talents to get free music and we are always told "you should be happy to get your music heard! for free by a major music video company or INDIE FILM with possible major interest--dont buy into this crap----- the reality is we can get our music heard on the net anytime we want ---they are simply preying on young kids who think theyre getting somewhere this way....

we should all stay together and be paid for what we do!!!!!!!JUST SAY NO!!! UNIONIZE ALL INDIE PRODUCERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!thats it--im done now. and no im not paranoid freak. jst pissed.

Welcome Ology.... sure, it'd be nice to get paid always, but this biz is as it is... few people even get paid for performing gigs *sigh* - there's always someone who'll do it instead if you say no.

yeah but you have to draw the line somewhere... no one will ever take you seriously if you dont.

depends on what you want to achieve i guess... some people will play only under the condition that its a free party for example.

working for free never brought me anything except experience, but then you gotta eat too sometimes...

Well, I guess those who have their "normal" 9-17 job say yes easier to such an offer... and I can understand this pisses off those who are dedicated enough to give up their daily job for music.

Mind you, even those independent films have a budget, so they pay for the equipment rent, staff, etc, so why should be the music for free? (And yeah, even a barter agreement is better than nothing...)
