ok, at the moment this is only in 7161 admin

checkout the homepage admin section...... new templates are implemented and they are way better'n the old ones

new homepages come with podcasting, RSS blog and a dedicated forum (which you can delete posts if logged in to 7161)

the whole other homepage admin has also been tweaked and now the image-gallery section and editing colours etc is all in easy to handle dedicated pages

these new homepage and gallery edit sections can be selected from admin only after applying a new homepage template....

ok, it works BUT there may be bugs IF you created a homepage ages ago back when we had the very old v1 template which looked shite

ABOUT THE NEW TEMPLATES

there's 2 choices right now... once thats all beta tested we can add more easily at anytiome so there'll be plenty coming along for more choice

you can choose template-1 or 2 - Both are fully colour-editable and also allows an image or FLASH banner to be added

or

tEMPLATE 1 ALSO HAS 26 FIXED TEMPLATES YOU CAN SWITCH BETWEEN WITH A SIMPLE SELECT AND UPDATE BUTTON - THESE FIXED TEMPLATES CANT BE COLOUR EDITED AT ALL BUT ARE AN EASY FIX

the second template will also have 26 non colour-editable variations added soon

anyways, they are a huge improvement, and frankly although we cant compete for site traffic, they anihilate myspace pages for appearance, and still no adverts anywhere

All your added news displays on the opening page btw so you can use the front-page as a blog which appears under your main intro profile text & user-image

oh yeah, obviously the next thing to do is to add-in FILE-download and CD retailing for these new homepages as an option, that'll; be looked at next, plus we might as well add ability for users to flog other stuff like shirts etc, but that'll take some work

well, i kind of like the template i'm using now. Only problem with it is the audio tracks button doesn't lead anywhere, nothing happens when i click it.

I see you've put a lovely moon template

when setting everything to black (in the old template style i had) i loose some text.

Also, what happened to the albums? there nowhere to be found in the media section.

In the top menu it goes: home, media, gigs. The gigs part looks funny, like something is missing

well so far, so good mate, it's lovely.

Minor things: The presentation texte on the home page shouldn't be justified completely to the left, i'd prefer it centered myself.

How can i change the type ? It's not to me liking (i know ,what a picky git...)

Also, i think it would be nice if track pages had the banner and menu, or at least a back it would be clearer (i know a simple click on back in your browser does the trick, but still, it's pretty standard to have some kind of navigation built in every page on a web site)

what about the fonts ? will we be able to change them ? Through the different templates, wich i don't see anymore.

Also, woul it be feasible to be cross-genre ? Say i upload a guitar driven track and choose heavy-metal in the flava selection, it then pops in the metal-indie section instead of annoying these good people in the electronic section.

ok new additions - We got a mail request for this.... wether the name/title apears over the added image banner or not... can this be chosen?

it's done

you need to reset your template for this to work (doing that does not overwrite any colours you defined already)

You now have in the homepage banner-admin section an option to turn on/off your artist name/title from displaying over the banner bg (only if it's an image banner, not flash)

you can switch this even after adding the banner to see the difference

justification ?.. whats wrong with it? explain more please, we did lay this out to work best when people add a decent intro text to their page, it doesnt look so good with just one or 2 lines of text

links page?.. i dont think people would want that enuff or it's look daft with just a few links... not sure

agreed, track page shoudl be under header.. i'll sort that but it'll mean re-setting your choosen homepage template again when done to add the new code to your page

Ok, i'll try adding more blurb and see how it looks.

Point taken about the lins page

I don't really mind having to reset everything, we're beta testing anyway. I think it's worth it, it'll look better and you get a more unified look overall

Well, you're right, it does look lovely with a full paragraph of blurb, so no problem then.

You know what would look real pretty ? The media page, it would beneficiate looking like the "My Online tracks edit/delete" page, with track image besides title and the brief track info.

ok we're getting there i think.. sorry Nutoniom, when u created that page it was a cockup and it created a directory and page called 'no' er.. because for some reason the homepage feild was populated by no's and i set it to seek anything in the homepage feild... consequently it tought you'd created a page and called you 'no'

i just saw you got another error about creating the homepage forum

i fixed that so you can no go for it

however this should be ok now for users creating from scratch, the issues still will be older homepage owners trying to update - i need to reporduce that

i found some more bugs and tested it with an old V1 homepage which showed some more bugs, but i think we're almost there now.. apart from user requests

btw, i noticed your extra track-space subsciption expired.. muahahahaahha i didnt have the heart ot turn it off tho... er and thats partly cos i didnt write code to do that and auto-remove tracks, that'd be unfair on track-space upgrade expiring users... but they'd have to choose which to remove

mmmm, you definately have a point there. I'd say have a bank of images automatically posted, with daisies and shit, you'll see how quick they'll turn up some, it'll fire the juices

heh, check it out.. if you do add an RGB colour such as

84 92 84

to the OUTER COAT tag it makes it transparent, then you can choose to add that same 84 92 84 to the banner-coat and whatever else.. any feild having added becomes transparent... hehe, instant myspace

hey also this bg image site i found is amazing, you choose thatmetal plate image (they've got over 5000 more) and then you can actualy adjust it's properties in realtime such as brightness and contrast etc, check a display of text colours over it in realtime then save it!

bug report: the video facility is not working.

It seem to upload fine, but i get a 404 when i try to play it. Also, there is no procedure to remove the video, or are we suppose to squish the old one?

no i didnt code that yet tbh, but it does now play correctly from the video edit page in your 7161 admin and from your 7161 artist page

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

I added video into the first template (the right vertical menu one) - you need to reset the template to fix this into your page - dont worry, resetting the template does NOT effect any previously set colour choices or anything like that such as bg image etc

so reset to get the video for that in the MEDIA menu with tracks and mixes

I'll add it also into template 2 in the next few days

if people also want a URL link for the video to display as well as the embedded display i'll add that too
