I watched the movie Forbidden Planet again last night. It's amazing that it was made back in
the 50s because the special effects are still very realistic looking. One of the best things of the
movie though is the soundtrack. It's all electronic sounds and very good ones. It could easily
have sounded cheesy and almost was cheesy for brief moments but the sounds are really
fantastic and fit the images very well.

The synthesizer used was custom made by the Barron Brothers. They were initially asked
just to write the sound that would be the Krell music that Morphius played back. The producer
and studio heads at MGM liked it so much they asked the Barron Brothers to do the entire
score.
