I am trying to follow the directions to emulate the tb-303 in the BassStation rack user manual. I do exactly as the manual says, but I don't get near the end result. Do all the knobs have to be set a certain way before I start the tb-303 emulation process? IS there something else I am missing? I am quite new to analogue style sound tweeking so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Russ

Weeellll....
you can and you cant...
it has to do with the range of parameters..sometimes, it will sound like a tb, but then, you put one of the parameters too extreme, and wham, no more tb sound.
I dont think the tb had a VCF that could go down to 5hz for one!
dont get too low or high with the vcf, that might help.
distortion helps too..

Very simple, Switch thw filter into 12db cut off mode and all the ranges of all the knob do ( Rob may not know this ) match the range of the knobs and characteristic of a 303. I suspect Rob is refering to the filter characteristic in the 24DB Mode.

Yeah, the 12db DOES sound MORE tb303ish, but it still always seemed like it was a little off, why i dont know, plus, if i remember correctly, mine seemed to self oscillate a little even in this mode, it was a little too whistly and clean sounding for my taste.. Actually, the Bassstation can do other things that the tb303 cant and thats mainly where i personally found it most useful. tb303 sounds are getting dated a bit anyway

yes you right it does things that the 303 can't do.
but is impossible to make a 100% 303 sound...
but if u want a 303 buy one
i prefer the super bass station cause it does what the tb cant do
