Hi,
I have problems when syncing the
TB303 from the Drumstation.
The drumstation does not keep up.
So the 303 sounds bad.
Does anyone have similar problems
and hopefylly know a solution?

It works. You guys have said it does not work but have failed to give any further idea about what it is not doing so I can only speculate about your situation. It's a bit like saying you car does not start and that's it. The cause could be anything from no gas to a buggered motor.
There are several things I need to know.
Is the 303 syncing up at all?
By this I mean
A/is it stopped?
B/is it trying to be in sync but drifting?
If the answer is A then
Are you really really sure you are transmitting MIDI Clock?
Have you varified this by syncing another MIDI device or Drum machine etc?
(You would not belive the number of people who say thay are sending midi clock and in actual fact are sending it to the wrong port or sending MIDI Timecode cos they dont know the difference.)
If the answer is yes I am definatley sending MIDI CLOCK on the CORRECT port and I have varified this and its still stopped.
Are you using a MIDI lead as a Sync lead?
Modern cheap MIDI leads sometimes only use 3 wires even though the Sync/Midi plug has 5 connections. This will cause the sync messages to not go down the MIDI lead and so it wont work properly.
If this is the case try a Known good SYNC lead.
If the unit is still stopped after this.
Have you checked the 303 syncs to any other Sync equipped unit?
The Sync input socket is like a headphones socket. As soon as a lead is plugged in the Start Stop and sync pulses are switched to the incoming signals rather than the internal ones...only problem is this is mechanical and these units are getting old. I have had this problem before with sync sockets.
This can be varified by syncing the unit to a known good sync source such as a 606 or 808.
Does the tempo knob on the 303 alter the speed?
If the tempo is altered in this way then the sync socket is failing to switch the sync signals over when the sync lead is inserted.
Have the 303 checked.
Thats all folks...
It does work for me.

I have the Drumstation V2 with 1.3OS. When I hook up my TR-707 to the Drumstation, it also drifts off sync. I have not looked at my framerate yet, and I will do that tonight. Also, the DIN-sync cable I am using is a good one. Phil, can you verify the framerate variable? I know mine is set to 25fps using Cubase 3.5. Should we jack it up to 30fps? Or are there any other variables we should be looking at in our MIDI rig? I hope to figure out what I am doing wrong soon. Thanx for any help...

As you may have read earlier, I too was having problems with the DIN sync OUT and my TB-303 and TR-707. I had a technician look at my 303 and he told me everything was working alright. When I got home, I started exploring my sequencer Synchronization Menu in Cubase 3.5 VST. After tweaking with the "Pre Roll" box in the menu(i have no idea what it is)and setting it from 50 to 100, the 303 works fine now. It may not have been that exact fix, but I know it was in the Synchronization Menu in Cubase 3.5VST. So, my advice is to twiddle with your synch options on the sequencer you are using. I know this isn't very clear, but mine works now...all of a sudden. I hope this helps someone out.
