You may have a noisey pot that is generating controller data.

Check to see what type of data is coming out by recording it in a seq and then looking at the data...

Anyways it will need to be looked at. Contact us about repair.

Cheers,
Phill@Novation

I have a couple of synths that emit bits of MIDI data continuously. My MIDI librarian identifies this data as 'active sensing.'
I've never concerned myself
with it, as it seems to do
no harm, though I *am* a bit curious about its purpose.
I don't have a DS, so I don't know if this is normal for it or not. Phil's response indicates that it isn't. The key question is
what *kind* of data is it
spitting out?

Phil, I think I figured it out
it's the decay on the bass drum
every time i touch it it stops sending messages
i think it might be bad
I only had it for less than a year is there any
warranty if not how much would it cost to get fixed and where I live in Florida USA

The fault is almost certainly a noisy pot. CC78 is Bass Drum Decay Pot ( See page 42 DrumStation MKII manual )

Call Novation USA...Phone number in USA of this site.

The idea behind "Active Sensing" MIDI messages is as follows :

Once a MIDI device receives an Active sensing message, it will continue to expect them on a regular basis. If the flow of Active sensing then suddenly ceases, the likely cause will be a broken MIDI connection etc. The device will then assume there is a problem somewhere in the MIDI system and shut down all notes.

In practice, not that many MIDI devices make use of Active Sensing in this way.

No Novation products transmit or take notice of Active sensing.
