One useful feature that I would like to see on the Supernova/Nova would be a random patch generator. My local music equipment seller-guy was cool enough to loan me a Waldorf Microwave XT for a few days, and one of the most impressive features was it's random patch generator. 80% of the time it came up with unusable noise, but the other 20% were amazingly bizarre sounds that I didn't think a synth was even capable of! The feature was much more useful than I thought it would be.

Also, I think it would be useful to have a screen on the EQ/Comb/Special section that would let you choose between having the standard EQ (bass'n'treble), and a sweepable mid. On my EX5 I use the sweepable mid static filter type more than any other of the 5 or so EQ types it has. It's great for making a sound stand-out in a mix.

peace in.

amazingly bizarre is the right expression for the random sounds. Nice toy but I bet you'll never use one of the sounds in a mix.
EQs are a mixer feature not a synth feature.
I think that the EQ in the Nova/Supernova has only been implemented to allow the programmers of the factory sounds to make more impressive solo sounds which often influence a buyers decision.
For the use in a mix you better set the equalizers to zero or negative amounts ;-)

When I first heard about synths with random patch generators, I, too, thought it would be just a silly novelty, but the random generator frequently came-up with some quite usable and occasionally indispensable sounds. I liked the sound of the synth overall (the Microwave XT, that is), but the random feature sold me.
But I couldn't afford it at the time, and when I could, the Supernova impressed me more.

I've found the mid boost EQ to be much more useful for making sounds fit in the mix, both boost and cut (and yes, I know that the pros generally say to only cut, not boost), than the other EQ types on my EX. Mainly because I have a crap mixer that doesn't have EQ! Wee!

I want my random patch generator!!!

NOW!!

...and so forth.
