SO WHAT IS THE CLOSEST 303 SOUND OUT THERE?
PREFERABLY WITH MIDI COMPATABILITY.

well with a real 303
the sequencer section has a different system
....where clones usually fall down even if they sound
correct sonically is that the slide function on a real
303 carries a note over any empty steps it is inserted
......The rebirth 303 software is very good soundwise
.....the TBS-303 & Syntechno Tee-Bee are probably the
closest hardware clones....they all sound very close
yet don't quite have the feel of the originals depending
on the type of pattern you are trying to programme with
midi.....

Last night iv'e heard the rebirth 338.
I think it's a very good 'twin-clone'.
Also there's an 808 planted right under it.
I haven' heard all the other clones
but I think this one is gonna get very
close to the real thing.
At least genetically.(huh huh!!!)

The Novation Super bass station is an awesome new
piece of kit. It can emulate a 303 exactly and then some.
Expensive,it has no polyphony but it can scream and
gurgle till your speakers beg for mercy.
