Subject: Gateway & other Major PC vendors...grrrrrrr

Right...i've just spent 4.25 hours trying to order a replacement motherboard from Gateway...for one of the office machines...NEVER EVER AGAIN...This has brough to mind again the whole sorry PC industry cfharade that alot of beginners can get sucked into.....about 10 minutes ago a mate phoned, and I was telling him the whole sad saga...."Yup...I've been there" he said...then I realised...he's got a gateway too....So I asked him, would you buy another Gateway...NO NO NO way....there you go...
Also, I've got friends having similar nightmares with Packard Bell.....y'know the thing...."please spend 45 minutes waiting in a phone queue to Holland etc".....then when the monitor blew up 2 months out of warranty....Packard Bell refused to issue part numbers for a 3rd party repair !!!....
Next....I had to purchase a Raid 5 file server (about £ 18 K).....The client specified Compaq....Oh dear !!.....you wouldn't believe the crap we had to endure...like days to get any info...and we were NOT allowed to buy direct, even tho it was being purchased for a client...we had to buy retail !!!....anyhow...BIg PC companies ...here's MY opinion !!!
AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE !!!
You can get the same pc from a local builder...
with same performance,
and close-by personal attention when things go wrong !
....The other thing is, this poxy system between the PC magazines,
and the companies...it's a scam...
The magazines busily recommend majors as being "SAFE"
to purchase from, because of longevity of company profile etc etc
.....but...they are also recieving massive amounts of advertising
revenue from the same companies...think about it !!
....every pc mag has 50% taken by major mail order retailers like Gateway & Dell ect etc.....
If you check the prices, they are not even that good !!
....so just please......do yerself a favour...
find a good local builder...get it there..!! OK....
I should mention these machines were all purchased before
I took over that area...Now I make sure we get our hardware from
a local builder.....and the prices are amazing in comparison too !!
...so...I decided to do you all a favour as we do have these deals
....so if you are in the London area and want a good PC guaranteed
for 3 years at a bargain price....email me !!!!!....
....also....all cards & software from Emagic & Cubase to Cakewalk
& Forge...Wavecenter cards , Event cards, Turtle & DAL
cards etc etc.....I have never brought retail into this site,
cos I though that maybe people would say I was saying stuff cos
I can sell it...NO NO way....I still recommend mostly secondhand
stuff...alot of new stuff is unnecessary rubbish....
but there you go...if you want it...email me.....I'll beat any price !!
