Subject: Dance music and xp50 ?

Hi!
I am totally new at this and i want to start composing some dance trax. I was suggested
to get the Roland xp50 for the start. Is this a good synth to start making dance music on ?
I do not know what exactly i want to make (ie. drum & base, house, acid, etc.).
so i do not want to get stuck with something limiting. Also what do i need to incorporate the sounds from those kewl sample cd's that are sold in stores ?
In fact do i need them at all if i buy a sample based synth such as the xp50 ?
