How can i use data entry on a keyboard
to control cut off and resonance
and record it?

I HAVE done it with AWETOY together with Hubi's
loopback device.

BUT they dont work very well.
There must be a simpler way??
Im using cakewalk audio.

the general midi protocol for resonance & cutoff is numbers 71 & 74........in Cakewalk, go to the midi clip with the data yoy wish to filter, then click on it and select "controllers".........then draw in the resonance setting just once (if you want a fixed resonance, then draw the cut-off curves over the bars you wish to effect....or assign your master keyboard to send out those control numbers from any two sources, such as pedal/slider or mod wheel, and send it in in real-time.........not sure if those are the correct numbers for the awe tho'

I'm almost done with a "StudioWare" panel in CakeWalk Pro Audio 6.0 specifically for the AWE-32 or AWE-64, that includes all the registers, (LFOs, Rez, Filter, ASDR, etc)

It's really pretty awesome what can be done with such a cheap card.

I have it work already, but I wanted to add some cute graphics, etc. Anyone want beta-test it?

To modify cutoff/res on the awe, insert the following
in the list view thing of your sequencer:
Controller 99 = 127 (dont know why)
Controller 98 = 22 (Specify you want to control res)
Controller 6 = required resonance value
Controller 38 = required resonance value again

To adjust cutoff it's the same but set controller98=21

To control the cutoff in real time.
(Needs a midi keyboard with assignable mod wheel)

Controller 99-127
Controller 98=22
Controller 6=resonance amount (0-127)
Controller 38=resonance amount (0-127)
Controller 98=21

* Put the controller messages above in the first bar
of your song.
* Assign the mod wheel on your keyboard to 38
* Play the first bit of the song containing the data above
* now when you play notes on the keyboard you can adjust
the filter cutoff with the mod wheel.

**Note you could also draw curves for controller 38.

Hope this helps
