I need a way of editing my samples. I have an
EMU ESI 32. I need a way of altering the tempo
without changing the pitch. I read a blurb about
Recycle by Steinberg and it sounds like it can
do this. I have a few questions though. How
do i transmit a sample to my pc and back? My
SCSI cable is used by a zip drive. And doesn't
the sample get degraded by being shunted to and fro?

I don't think Recycle works with the ESI32, unless you use the MIDI sample dump to transfer the samples.

Oh ok,but hwo do I transfer samples to the sequencer?
Can it go at the end of my scsi chain to the pc? It's
strange but the Steinberg page shows the esi32 as
a compatible sampler.

It actually might be compatible via scsi, but recycle may not be able to create a program for it.

ReCycle transmits the sample to your sampler (with all the beats spread across the keyboard as different samples) and also creates a midi file to go with the different samples. So from here you can change the tempo in Cubase and so keep the same pitch. You can also substitute the sounds for your own, or even take the 'groove' of the loop and groove quantize the rest of the track.

Ok if you know so much about it you won't want any help then!

Don't suppose you've had a look at the manual on the steinberg site either, that will tell you everything you already know I suppose.
