Wondering about hooking up things. :-P For a cue system, I've been
using an NAD intigrated amp insted of just a power amp. It's clean but
underpowered. Also, been running source (Mixer with ADAT & midi),
tape 1 (Dat), tape 2 (CD or portable Dat), and tape 3 (cassette deck)
through one of these Radio Shack tape control center things. This lets
me dub to and from any deck, but is that little thing messing up the
sound? I expect its just this little box with double pole
switches. What are the advantages of a power amp over an intigrated
amp?

What's the best way to hook this stuff up? Should I get another patch
bay and put all the decks arse ends together and just patch?

Also, what's the best way to hook up multiple monitor systems to
one amp? (Again, right now I'm using a Radio Shack speaker control
center)

Note: I've got a shitload of Belden 8451 studio console wire and can
solder.

It may seem like comman sence, but I expect I've been doing some things
wrong for years.

Thanks!

well..........you need to get a mixer mate.......keep the hi-fi amp.....it will be fine, and NAD are cool amps.......I like to run this way, cos....you wire the cassette to the amp as you would in a stereo system.....simple to make a cassette, just put it into record and tape it...playback ?....simple switch to Tape, and listen......

get a mixer....connect your pc, and all your sound devices toi the mixer......then send the stereo master out to the DAT.....send the DAT output to the 2TRK or STEREO return sockets on the mixer......you can then solo stuff in a mix, or lower the monitors if the phone rings without fucking up the recording going to dat.......so its simple to send the equiptment to DAT, the equiptment to cassette, the dat to mixer, the dat to cassette etc etc......
really, .....just bring the DAT returns to the patchbay, so you can patch the DAT outputs into the mixer IN cahnnels if needs be....(rto record a DAT part to PC or sampler or whatever.....)

Now you can get something like a Spirit Folio from soundcraft for about 150 quid, there's NO excuse.......if you have a mixer......why aint U using it??.......does this help...?....if you're in the UK email me & we'll talk on the landline.....Oh yes.....make sure your p speakers are wired in phase......(see the monitor section).....and use 2 core mains copper electrical cable for the speaker wire......(say like the stuff for wiring up ceiling lights in a house as a good starter for thickness of copper content !!)....you can get it from any electrical shop...and its a fucks site cheaper than special copper speaker wire, but its the same thing.....
