This is a silly question I know but do you need a keyboard or workstation to program the Pulse or Bass Station? Or can you just plug in and write and listen to them. Yes, I am very new to this. Thank you, Cheers

You simply need to enter midi note and other data such as pitch bend, etc into your sequencer ......the sequencer then plays back the data, which makes the synth play......you can use a midi keybaord, or enter the notes manually into the sequencer with a pencil tool or something, or you can use an excellent programme such as Seqence-303 , or Vaz to play the sounds...(vaz also gives you a software synth........
