Well I really don't know, but since the 106 is pretty old, I think you can forget about the Juno sliders. Maybe some external controlling device, or a newer synth...

Use another Juno (the 60) with a Kenton PRO DCB-Midi (that you also can use for a J8) ...

;D

Holger

(Sorry, i donīt know how to record the VCF Sweeps on a 106, but ask the Guys at Kenton - and - they never answer u via eMail !)

as I understood it, the reason it was so popular is because it was midi controllable with real analog engine.....as far as I know, the filter controls are midi......

You bunch of idiots! the 106 IS MIDI CONTROLLABLE,
and it uses SYSEX messages to perform this task!
When you move any slider or press a button of the
parameters panel the 106 sends out a realtime sysex
string of your edits via the MIDI out bus.
Be shure that the back panel MIDI switch was in position
"III",that is sending and receiving exclusive messages.
If your sequencer records REALTIME SYSEX information
then you can reproduce your edits along with the note
information.
AND PLEASE!!!!!!!...FOR ALL YOU IGNORANTS THAT
GIVES WRONG OPINIONS....LEARN SOMETHING
ABOUT SYNTHS BEFORE OPEN YOUR STUPID
MOUTH!!!!!!!!!!

Settle down mate, I think its very important to give wrong opinions about topics one knows nothing about. In fact myself and others at dancetech are part of a worldwide conspiracy to confuse the competition to such a degree(musically, that is) that they don't have a hope of making it big in the dance music world. BUY CASIO!!!!!GO ON, IT SOUNDS GREAT!!!

Shh.. you should keep quiet about that!
I've got a solution: send me that Juno (and all other gear) and I'll send you a nice vl-tone. great controls,
great sounds and it runs on batteries like all the classic
techno stuff.

CASIO ROCKS!!!

Actually, I don't think "all" of the controls are sent. I believe the pitch bend/volume/portamento/and anything else on the small panel with the pitch bend lever are not sent. Now if you use a different synth to control the bend, I think that it will be recorded......dunno for sure.

In response to hilliard above....there is a particular path editor I have (Cant remember the name) which displays a graphic representation of the juno with EVERY button and slider. As you move any of the sliders on the Juno or press any buttons the graphic will move in real-time the exact slider on the screen which means that it IS actually recieving midi messages for each individual
switch, slider or button. This will work with the function switch set to III on the back of the juno.

Bren.

I have recorded many slider movements from the 106 to my XP-50, but the bend and volume changes never played back (yeah, I do have the MIDI switch set to III on the back panel). I'm pretty sure that I've read that the bend/mod/volume/portamento/ panel of switches/knobs/sliders will not send messages. I'm certainly not saying your bullshitting, I just have never heard of it before.

If you're talking about the "Juno-106 Librarian" by David Churcher, those sliders are not part of the display, only the top row panel of sliders, starting from LFO (left) to CHORUS (right). If you have some other utility that does show pitch bend changes, please let me know, but I'm pretty sure they don't send data.

If you refers to the "left hand" controls side to the
keyboard, yes , itīs true, they not send MIDI except for
the classic Roland bender stick, thats send continous
pitch bend messages when you move it to the sides and
modulation (Control Change #1) with 0 or max value
when you move it forth and back (only for mod ON/OFF)

OK, youīre right with the Casios, my first sampler was
a SK5 and I still use it. Itīs a kind of sampling workstation
with keyboard, pads, sequencer, key modulable delays
and unique 8 bit sound!. Of course itīs multitimbral and
polyphonic, so, if you want, Iīll trade it for your ASRX!
plus some money thats compensate the ASRīs lack of
keyboard!

Dan
