$7-800 with extra ram is pretty standard

From the info I have received I would say no. If you get a s/h esi-32 you can buy the turbo-expansion card for the $ you saved. This will give you all the filters of the esi-4000 + six x-tra outs + fx! The only disadvantage, the way I see it, with the esi-32 is that it only takes 30-pin simm, while the esi-4000 takes 72-pin.

Actually, to give the -32 all those filters all you need is a copy of the -4000's OS. It's all s/w.

doesn't the 4000 hold more ram and also can hold a drive internally? so you'd go fer the 32 eh??? just wondering...

well, I could get it, I put it onto my friend's machine, but all I did was walk into the local Guitar Center and rip it. When you get the machine you'll figure it out. BTW, stock, it's basically the filters from the EIIIx, which are really good enough. I had an e6400 but only used the LP-filters anyway.

So if I get this right there's really no reason to buy
the Esi-4000 if it wasn't for the RAM or the Zipdrive ?
If this is true the esi-32 makes good value compared to
the Yamaha A3000 or Esi 4000.

Am I correct ?
(I'm just looking for a decent sampler for a reasonable
price)

Yamaha has a patch editor like MESA for the a3000 now.
