Subject: "real" 909 vs. drumstation vs. others

would be better(and the best way to spend your
money):
buy a real tr909 - $800-$1000
advantages: it's the "real" thing. would be
great to have this all-in-one box in your lap
drumstation driven by a tr505/707/r8
($600 for drumstation + $100-300 for controller)
just about the same programming interface but
more sounds(808 too). however sounds may not be as good as the real thing.
xbase909-thingy($1000)
i don't see the advantage of this box. for this
amount of money why not buy the real thing? it
only does snare, bass + one other "percussion" instrument. comments?
any other ideas?
what do you think would be the best value for
the money? basically i'd love to have a real 909
but they seem like such a rip-off at these prices.
still, it would cost just about the same to get
either the drumstation plus a decent controller
or the xbase909 thing.

that has the roland "grid" interface(either a tr505 or tr707 would do - a r8 would be even
better) - once i add this stuff, the price starts to get close to that of a real 909.
is the drumstation worth it to have the 808 sounds too? it's sorta like everyones dream(or atleast
mine) is to own a 909, but i don't buy one because i need to save my money for other gear and
not blow it all on a real 909, however, even though the drumstation is cheaper, after i add
a controller to it, i could almost have just bought a real 909.
also, what do you all think about the jomox xbase909 thing. is it really worth all that money?
why?
