Id like a few more midi channels please.

I cant be the only one, what does every one else
do.

My PCs filled to the brim so I cant fit another
sound card (no IRQs)

Ive heard about these 64 midi channel interfaces that plug into the Parrallel port, are they any good?

How do you use more than 16 channels inside cubase?

WIll it interfer with my Cubase dongle?

Any comments gratefully recieved ....

Hi!!

I have an Opcode 8Port/SE (by Music-Quest) connected to my printer port and it works fine (I have Cubase VST installed). This interface has 8 Midi-In and 8 Midi-Out. I can recommend this interface, although it costs about 800 DM (295 UK-pound). But there´s a 6-port interface available from Opcode as well. A friend of mine has the new 8-port interface Unitor by Emagic, but he has some troubles when sending SysEx-Midi data.

In Cubase you can select each of the 8 Midi-ports (every port with 16 Midi-channels). This enables you to control up to 8 Midi devices separately. Thats great. Included with Opcode´s interface you will get a Midi-patchbay software (matrix scheme). You can store up to 8 different Midi connection schemes into Opcodes EEPROM of 8Port/SE. When your PC is switched off, you can select these from the front panel of the interface. Thats great for live playing without PC!

Absolutely no problems with Cubase dongle.

Ciao

Clemens
