Hi, I want to buy a compact mixer in the near
future, so far I am looking at the following models:

Mackie ms1202vlz
Behringer eurorack 2642
Yamaha mx12/4

These are all pretty much in the same price range,
Maybe somebody can make some suggestions pro and contra of these models.
I intend to use it for my home setup:
1 x synth, Sampler coming this summer (multi output) and my PC-soundcards (2x)
I also want to use it to make some demo recordings
of my (rock) band.
At the moment I am biased towards the mackie as
it seems to me that it is a real solid piece of engineering...

Henk.

What exactly is the difference between the 1202vlz and the 1202 models?... Because, (As somewhat anticipated) prices on used 1202s seem to have dropped slightly with the release of the vlz model (At least where I've been looking..)

if you look up the following page:

http://www.mackie.com/TechSupport/TechLit.html
you can download spec sheets (in .pdf format)
for both the 1202 and the 1202vlz.

I've owned the 1202, 1202VLZ, and a Soundcraft Folio Lite. The 1202 is an excellent mixer, but I must admit that the Soundcraft has a better EQ with more features than the 1202 and they both put out the same amount of noise. The 1202VLZ has an even better EQ with with even more features and less noise at the outputs.

If your price range is in line for the 1202, take a look at the Folio too. If you can get the 1202VLZ...get it.

Behringer mixers are cheap versions of Mackie mixers. The mic pre's are not as good and you'll have more noise at the outputs. You get what you pay for. I should know. I have a Behringer MX 3282.

I know nothing about the Yamaha mixers.
