How to use a compressor for vocal and rap tracks?
What settings? Should I put it first and get stuff recorded trough that, or should I use a compressor for already recorded vocals from tape? What's the difference?
Is it possible to get the vocals recorded trough a compressor in CubaseVST or is it always used after the recording?

Hi ,
I have some compressors and there many ways of use them .
You can use them both after or before tracking.
The only thing you have to have in mind is that if you record a "compressed" signal there is no way to "decompress" it , I mean that you have to very careful
with that .
In the other hand I prefeer to use compressors in the mix
because the effect of the comp. in the mix situation
is different when you hear it alone .
It can really help you to make a thin vocal stand out on the mix (like in RAP there are a lot of voices..)

Hope this helps .
