Why is it that the top of the range HiFi speakers are not monitors? After all,
both markets want the best possible sound right?

Also, what's with the Bose radio thingie... Major breakthrough?

Would you shoot me if I used it for monitoring?

monitors are designed (if they are real monitors ) to withstand more punishment especially in the top end range... tweeter...

I'd just like to say I've been doing a track using little Aiwa pc speakers... best monitors i've used for ages... perfecto !.....tight... and i can hear it all.. (they are only 6 inches away from the pc keyboard !... seriously..... i listen to the dance cd's as i work, so why not monitor on them... it's got that beautiful boogie-box speaker tightness sound...... solid !.... with these, there is actually less chance of crap busting around the room, as they are set so low in volume.... so i find the balance is perfect.... after all... that is what most people will listen to it on....whio listens to dance tracks with Naim pre-amps, and 1000 quid esoteric monitors ?.... no-one i guess.... and club pa systems are pretty basic also......
