uQ eats novations. Big Q even more so. Absynth is dope. So is FM7, but if you're staying in the hardware realm, Novation tends to be kinda weak. I'd say get a Pro-One and sample the shit out of it. Millions of options. Novation just isn't a very impressive one. If you really like their sound, sure...go for it. If you have tried out the others and still like it, then it's for you. I know the difference and they are not for me, but I'm not everybody. Research, and knowledge are your best tools in making the decision, and that means listening and letting your ears decide, with all of the advice being just advice and not gospel.

I think about buying bunch f old synths.. doesnt matter midi or nomidi at all.. Just sample the fuck out of them to the pc... with Kontakt there isnt an need for outboard sampler (well when they get the automation on kontakt right) for me at least.. instead of getting a super sytnh with bunch of hidden menus could get a juno60 old ensoniqs.. sh 101... i dont know so many choices. may different sources to get sounds from.. and sample them to th pc and do even more sound editing and fx.

for $303 you can buy the equivalent of a pro-one (w/multi mode filter + full midi/cv) in kits from emf.

fuck, i'll never get that much for my dbx and dx100.

Ensoniq esq 1 digital wavefroms thru analog filters and envelopes and it has 3 oscilators! pretty good for a sytnh from 1986

"Similar to the Mirage synth/sampler, the ESQ-1 was Ensoniq's highly affordable and impressive digital synthesizer. Although the waveforms are digital in nature, the filters and envelopes are all analog as on the Mirage. In fact for a digital synth the ESQ-1 has many good old analog-synth features such as a ring modulator, sequencer, and oscillator-sync. The envelopes and LFOs are can be freely routed to each DCO, VCA and or VCF. There are 40 preset sounds which are the usual not-so-great sounds. Luckily the LCD display screen is large enough to make editing the sounds somewhat pleasant.

What really sets the ESQ-1 apart from other similar synths is the voice architecture. Choose from analog, digital, or samples or any combo since there are three independent oscillators per voice! Once you start editing on the ESQ-1 you will come up with interesting and unique results. Using dynamic voice allocation it can seemlesly switch from 8-voices of analog to 8-voices of digital or sampled voices! This gives you a wide array of different sonic elements at your fingertips! "

yummy...
I wanna get something that i cant get on the pc and something that not many people use... I really want an esq1... only thing is.. i dont know if i can control it from PC (sx) ( filter sweep, etc)... I wonder if it excpets midi controller data or just notes.... Need to do a little bit of searching...
What you guys think?
