I love it when folks lend me things like the 808 my buddy just passed my way for the time being. Time to maje some tracks with no samples, just analog drums, nasty synths, and some effects. Mmmm. Simple clean, warm phat stinky sound. I love analog. Sequenced with a 1040STE, just to get really retro. What about you other fools? When's the last time you went all clean and purist for minute, just for the sake of doing it, not that being a purist (reads snob) will get you very far, but nothing like it for a moment's fun. All things in moderation, even moderation.

unfortunately, I've never been a purist. I just
can't deny digital in my domain. But someday, I'll
be kicking a ARP Odyssey with a MKS-80 and a 808
when I have more $

Same here, I could run a nice bassline with the TB-303 and SA Neptune but that's where it ends... nice for tweekinging and letting yourself go for a bit but probably not much fun for others to enjoy   Still have monitors and new mixer to purchase, after that my setup is such that I will probably purchase TR drummachine and maybe re-unite again with a SH-101 (I miss her).

i'm very happy with my xbase (id LOVE to have an 808 - my favorite drummachine ever) and my 777. they have more presence than samples. im a purist when it comes to techno and house drums, i just need the analog punch for my kicks.

but i would never part with my little yellow mQ or with my sampler...

the shame is all mine, esp. since someone just sent me a kpr-77 to 'fix up.' this one gets 1/4" jacks so i can cv all the parameters when i finally buy that huge kenton in the sky. maybe i ought to just add a few onboard lfos

Ayup - I was on about this in another thread... Running an all (or mostly) analog mix is just different, both in sound and "feel." Makes me lick me lips....=)

Peace

Yeah, that would help too, but the old stuff is just so nice, cuz you really don't have to do much to the sound at all. It already has THE sound.

Xoxos, the Filter Factory never ceases to amaze me   It can do so much for so many sounds, especially for voice   The Warp Factory is top notch too. I'm so glad I got these cheap when GC was blowing them out.

Just got my soldering station from radio shack. There's a box of screwdrivers and hec keys under my desk at work, just arrived from sears. Time to get busy. ;-)

well some kind soul sent me a battered kpr-77. thing has been loved to death.. maybe three of the trigger pads still function. i'm still coordinating my new daw and i've got plug-in tutorials and animation to make it through this year.. but i think you can safely consider me a builder   'sides, i've got about $100 in motors and aluminum here for a robot.. couple of built distortion circuits waiting for a housing..

guess i could always put the distortion on the kpr and throw a pair of legs and a remote control on it?!?!?

When I get the time: I've got an old Casio MT70 to do some circuit bending on. Got a couple filter mods I want to try on my old DSS-1. Finally, there's a handful of MOTM modules I need to add to and setup, gonna spend some time on that...

Anyhoos, more "deconstructing" than building right now...

get rid of the 404 and grab an Evolver. ;)

You could talk to Dave Smith about it. He'd know who to contact, or maybe Wine Country?
ALso be casreful with jumper settings. Makes a big difference for floppies.

Good luck.

I'm not talking about getting rid of your analog for digital stuff, just getting better analog. ;)

speaking of warmth, i can't believe that i'm not completely happy with my sequential pro-one, even after all the shit i went thru to get it. it just that when i put it side by side with my friends moog prodigy the moog beats it hands down for warmth and smoothness even if the pro-1 spanks it on paper. damnit i'm already a snob about using analogs over va's and digital synths but i think i might be becoming a discrete analog snob. i need help...

For a cheap noisegate how about one of the boss guitar pedals?

I thought about it.Just can't find a second hand
one round my way.As for a Boss pedal tip for
keyboardists/Dance producers cut the spring
in half and it becomes a handpedal.
