Yeah, thanks to this box I got an S6000 studio with 128 voices, 32 MIDI channels and FX for $1100

Thank you Akai.

-Craig

PS - The S6k probably isn't worth dick now though

what are the fx configured like - can you do SEND fx to a main effect or patch them in one effect per 'bank/kay-range' etc or what?.... I oprefer their new look I must say, and is the remote panel now equipt with a decent length cable?

you read japanese k? looks real interesting for doing scoring and audiophile stuff. on the other hand, we go on about how good those old 12-bit things sounded for more down and dirty stuff. how will those emax smaples sound at 96k/24bit? I know fer sher they'll take up a lot more disk space.

In the 6000, you can do either. The processor is 4 channel, with 2 channels providing a modulation effect, a distortion/ringmod section, and a reverb. The other 2 channels offer only reverb. So you can set up 4 different effects, and then bus your sounds to them, either globally or individually.

The effects don't blow me away, but they're definately usable live.

I finally looked into.. the z4. Looks good at 24 bit and all. Kontakt looks even better.. What to do, What to do... considering I paid tremendous amounts of cash on the s5000 and got to keep it.. what a shame what a shame..

damn akai!!! and your over priced accessories tooo :P

ranting,...again

I'm not trading my S6000. Besides, S5/6000's are worth nothing these days

My point exactly. The amount of sampler horsepower available secondhand for under $1k US is astounding. S5/6000, Emu E6400s, etc.

I'll stick to my S5000.The heck w/ the flavor/bit
rate of the month.I feel the ergonomix of the
5/6000 series w/ the screen/function key layout is
much better than the new Akais.Keep the Emu it's a
great sampler.B-sides the Akai 5/6000 has that
Akai sound and the Emu has that Emu warmth so
screw that marketing crap.Stick to your gunz.I
haven't bothered to look at the Z series but the
specs are a lil pristine for me.But then again i
still wish i had my S-950 12 bit and my Prophet
2000 12 bit.I would think the Z series would sound
like a computer sampler. No character of it's own
just another clon
