Yeah, but in the background is Bicknell hill, where Team Zephyr would skate after surf sessions
at the P.O.P pier.
Here's a pic of me in front of the original Jeff Ho shop on Main & Bay streets.
Skateboarding and music technology go hand in hand, right?
All this stuff is from the flick 'Dogtown and Z-boys' btw.

Ok, I saw Dogtown and Z-boys and made a solemn vow to not shave until I hung out in Santa
Monica for an afternoon. Thus the pilgrimage is complete.

Yeah dude, beards make you look like ,um uh, you don't shave!

The second week itches do suck, but after that third week you can kiss the razors and shaving
cream goodbye.

Anyway the beard's not the problem, I promised the guys in my band that when I cut my hair, I
would play a gig with a mullet!

in the world" until it's snapping jaws are inches from my face and they suddenly remember "oh
yeah, she does'nt like men with beards..."

yeah, how's that for a run-on sentence...

I'm a hairy Gael I can understand to a certain degree why people in hot countries might want to experiment with shaving but in Northern climes like Scotland why do people want to expose their faces to the freezing cold.Hair grows so why not let it?

Well, I've gotta admit, there is a resemblance, even beyond all the hair. I saw him play with Ozzy
in 87' and he was totally skinny. He has defeated the less work ethos by braiding his beard.
Maybe he had the lady do that for him...

Pict, I worked outdoors through a cold winter when the beard got started, so I'm with you on the
weather bit.

But wait, I was hanging on Bicknell Hill! Did'nt anybody see Dogtown?

because on some people it can make them look like an old man- we had a guy at our school who was dewveloped and at 16 grew a beard- he went from nerd to 40 year science teacher in one week....

there should at least be an age limit..

Influx, yeah I was in LA yet again with All Mighty Senators. Too bad we could'nt hook up (you're
in OR now , correct?) , I could've actually shown you a little style as I was being treated pretty
well on this tour. We played at HOB on Sunset. Shit! We could've smoked weed on our tour bus!
But y'know, I had to hook up with the 'Club' and jam it up to Berdoo to meet with Sonny and Free
Wheelin' Frank before we went to the Janis Joplin concert at the Fillmore...
Actually I do have a bike sitting in my garage awaiting the sawsall. With as little time as I have,
it's either make beats in the basement or turn wrenches in the garage. Or more realisticly, do I
buy this microphone or this triple tree? The basement's been winning every time. I entertain the
fantasy at http://www.chopperunderground.com. It's like dancetech but choppers...
Where's Digital Rust? I tried finding him, too.
Yup, before I hit the ditches, I gotta hit the pipes in AZ!

As for age concerns, every day I'm alive is a day closer to grumpy old man I was born to be.

Yeah, I think they call that pogonophobia. Apparrently Margaret Thatcher was a pogonophobe and wouldn't let any bearded men in her cabinet. And she definitely wasn't right in the head. That'd be enough to make me worry, Greg.

it's an observable and much verified fact that there are those who were simply born into this world much-too-good-looking and without their beards most other poor saps (who have to shave every day EVERY FriGGING DAYof their most modern suit-wearing corporate/governmental wanna be cold[play existences) wouldn't have a chance at a girl whatsoever.....or boy for that matter....
so you know it's simply their way of kinda evening out the odds for ya.

holy crap it _is_ "that" jack.

sorry for forgetting the name of your band, dude. I would have never took you for the biker type. didnt really know you skated, either. guess I never asked.

I dont need to see a chopper site. used to be a passion of mine, but I went other directions, and now with the bastard weekender yuppies snatchin up the $40k bikes...everyone wants $15k for their 88 POS.

probably never own one, tell the truth. and I could never grow a real beard like that. if I could Id be all over it!

rock on.

chopper. A lot of awesome chopped Jap bikes, great forums, all that stuff.

Hey man, I like that loose'n sloppy jam! How do you like the RS7k?

holy crap, man. I forgot completely about that!

I like(d) the RS but just never could get a feel for numbers sequencing like that. I prefer me a SCREEN.

miss the touchy feely HW, and the RS had some neet FX....I banged that out in one take. totally forgot.
it was a very capable sequencer, decent sounds, cool effects. never got the beat slicer to work. as a whole the unit was kinda finicky and complicated.

I was very keen on the new Roland for a while, since you can attach a screen and use a mouse, but I decided to just stick with the computer.

will check out those forums

That does'nt surprise me about the rs7k. I have an rm1x and it has some weirdness to it that I've
never quite gotten around. Of all of those HW units , the mpc's seem to be standing the test of
time. I'm attracted to the mpc1000 . Kinda cheap, USB, and those lovable rubber pads.
I have an sp1200 and it's an awesome piece of gear. Fun and easy to use. I don't know why
emu did'nt do an updated version. They did those hardware joints with the onboard sounds , but
no sampling. I love working with the sp's sequencer. fast and easy.

I might get an mpc, but I need to start getting my head around ableton live anyway. Just got it ,
need to put the time in...

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

the thing i love about my mpc is the ability to tap beats in on the fly- of course i hear you say you can do that with a keyboard but there is something about the pads that works better.....it means if you have a tight enough rhythm (somnething that varies day to day for me) you can double ya tempo and wack half time beats in on the fly and they generally always sound pretty loose and funky...

apply any sort of quantized swing and you have that amercian rn'b sound (not that you'd want that though)

How about those mpc style pads with the usb connection. Anybody use those? Seems like a
nice compromise. My buddy Landis just got a Roland SP20 - percussion pad. That works great
too. You get to beat the shit out of it with sticks. Also you can do drum rolls and more
sophisticated stick technique (provided that you have said technique).
Still, hardware is hardware. I don't think all those hip hop heads would still be sticking to the
mpc for no reason.

oh come on acknowledge! its because most of them are fucking STUPID! lets be done with it! theyre moronic, uneducated people...I mean god DAMN how hard is it to work an MPC? seriously!

the MPD thing..the pads via USB...triggering is horrible. absolute bullshit

want a good drum trigger? something you can use your hands or sticks?

Alternate Mode DK-10. period. There are other versions, of varying expense, but the DK10 does the trick absolutely perfectly

woah the venom is with you my son....

im no hiphop affliate and agree that its ease of use attracts them as well as the whole prolific biter culture but that dont make em stupid- they just wanna use a machine they can hit beats into and isnt sub-menu after sub-menu after sub-menu....the roland stuff may look better in spec but damn the roland ui has been shit for years and they are only trying to compete- not doing anything new so therefore by the same logic are dumbing down there own products..

yar pad thing would work but its still a pc innit....depends if ya like making music on a calculator-
