3 Way Reflex Full-Range Cabinet

This 3-Way reflex full-range cabinet is ideal for club and party systems... You can mutiply the cabs for more power. Think of these as like giant hi-fi or studio speakers; a simple 3 way full-range unit you should be able to knock up in an day with some care.

Use tha pair of these with any stereo power amp up to 500 watts per channel...but ease the volume in huh!... dont blow the things up !!

You can build another pair, and add them together with the first pair for more power.

The speaker brand is up to you, but check the resonance for the bass driver, and adjust the port-size accordingly.

you guys forgot to mention whether both sheets of plywood(the walls of the cabinet) should be screwed to the baton(butt-joint) also, should the sides of the cabinet be screwed to the baton and each other as well?or should each side of the speaker cabinet be screwed only to the baton and NOT it's mating side?also, how the heck do you cut those perfectly circular speaker holes into the baffle?

Hey guys.

Really cool page. Good examples, even for builfing very complex Box Cabinets like horns. We're built our 6kW PA by ourselves. And I know about the difficulties of that. But understanding your plans is very simple. congratulations.

Great page! I,ve just purchased a 150w 4ohm per channel amp. I can only get 8ohm speakers. How do I wire from the cross over to get 4ohms? how do I wire the next 1/4" jackso that i could have it be the "out" to a next speaker? Thanks

whoooah !!..... I didnt expect many posting's here.....

Ok MR Blu..... correct about the sealed enclosers...that is noted on the intro page....also the passive bit.... but these are starter boxes...

However, I do have pans for seperates, so these will be added when I've time... I've got plans for lots of cabs, for Bi & Tri-amped systems, as well as guitar 4X12cabs etc.....

just note, I dont read these seperate pages regularly, so if you want to ask anything that demands a reply, mail me....

Nice plans.. just had a few comments... a sealed enclosure generally has a more extended low frequency response whereas the reflex enclosure's response will generally drop sharply below the freq. the port is tuned to... Also wanted to mention that a passive X-over network can "absorb" up to 10% of your amplifier power, whereas the active X-over won't... I do think this is definately a good plan though.. It would be useful to see a short list of drivers and their respective specs.. regards, Jon

that's really cool to see how to do the speakers like that. We are thinking about making our own set up for a gigginmg guitar band (lead, bass, drums, vocals). Do you reckon these cabs would handle this and do you know anywhere to get more info on things like mixers etc. I read the mags but the language just goes way over my head.

scarecat.. for god's sake man..... apply Large amounts of woodglue.... and screw to the battons.... you've obviously never worked with wood, so maybe it's better to get some help..... woodglue once set is stronger than wood... so as long as the butt-joints are covered well, the outer edges will be solid... round holes ?... er... compass ?... jigsaw ??....apply plenty of glue, then wipe off the excess which oozes out (oooer missus!!) with a damp cloth. dont forget (if your brainless) to NOT add glue to the back panel, if the drivers load from behind/inside your bass-cab and others will soon arrivee at gate 12....

THis is kind of typical of alot of pa stuff. I think the 10 inch is way too big creating too much beeaming. I would prefer using a couple vertical 5 inchers. The tweeter usually must br crossed at 5kHz anyway. Four 5 inchers will handle practiically all powers. Thats what I used in my main system I designed. I don't quite understand your simplified port size vs box and any woofer. Why not use a program for any woofer parameters?

Hi,
Want to build these for the sheer educational value, as well as having a system for dirt parties!
Could you please point to specific drivers to use as I have no idea what to look for.
Also does the crossover need to be built by myself or is it something I can buy?

Cheers,

Muc

Hello, thanks for the plan, but could you possibly draw the scheme of how to wire it? and with what kind of passive crossover?
I'm worried about breaking my drivers if I try alone (with the impedance and stuff)

(sorry for poor english, I'm French)
