Oberheim OB-1
Ok.... I'm gonna add all the old vintage synths... not that i've used them all myself.. but i'm gonna dd the spec's then people can add comments based on real-life use.... so , as i had nothing to do today, i thought i'd start to add them as basic page templates... then add the spec's later, or get others to write a review....so...The Oberheim OB-1..... please add your comments

Great sounding flexible mono-synth with
8 memories. One of the first monosynths
with memories. switchable 2 and 4 pole
filters that are tunable. 2 oscillator
with saw, pulse and square waves that
can be sync'd together. Similar to an

I have owned an OB-1 for over two years now. I must say that this is a real warm sounding synth. It is great for both bass and leads. It has two VCO's that are detunable. What is unique about this synth is that both VCO's also have a sub-oscilator, so in effect you could have a four oscilator synth from this machine. Also equiped with a 2/4 pole VCF that self oscilates and is tunable, and ADSR for both VCA and VCF. The noise generator sends out a dirty sounding tone along with the white noise, though I think that it may be a problem to my particular synth, not all ob-1's. The memory is there but useless, at least in my expierience with it. For example, I create a patch and set it to memory, sure I can tweak away and come back to it later, but if I turn the machine off and come back and tweek away, over a few weeks the machine might not remember exactly what the original patch was. (It may also be a problem that is unique to my synth, as I have not even seen another one in the flesh before or since so I have no reference to compare) But hey, it was made in 1977 and I did not buy the machine for its memory, (none of my other vintage synths have any memory, let alone a 1/2 assed one). For those of you that are blessed with the chance to purchase one, you will not be disapointed.
